My First Baby Annabell Bathing Doll Review & Giveaway

It will come as no surprise when I tell you that Daisy loves dolls. So when a My First Baby Annabell Bathing Doll arrived for her to review she was over the moon. She couldn’t wait to open the box and put her new dolly in the bath.

As well as being sent a doll for review we have kindly been offered another to give away to one of our lovely readers. You can enter using the gleam app after reading our review.

The My First Baby Annabell doll is now fully bathable and she comes with her own sweet little bath. She has a quick-drying body and an adorable little romper suit and hat to wear.

Daisy decided to take the dolls bathing suit off while I ran a nice warm bubble bath. Once Baby Annabell was undressed and the bath was full she was ready to play.  She loved washing Baby Annabell in the bubbles.

Daisy spent almost an hour washing and re-washing her dolly, talking to her gently and wiping the bubbles from her eyes. Jake wanted to join in too so they took it in turns. I think this doll is perfect for boys or girls, they both really enjoyed bathing Baby Annabell.

Once Daisy’s hands were suitably wrinkled it was time to empty the bath. I left Daisy to dry Baby Annabell up with a towel. Once she was dry on the outside we left her to air dry for a little while and I was surprised at how quickly the doll dried. When Daisy has taken other dolls in the bath it’s taken days for them to dry.

Daisy has bathed her dolly lots of times since having lots of fun each time. She can easily dress Baby Annabell herself although younger children may need some help. I think this doll would make a wonderful gift.

The My First Baby Annabell Bathing Doll is suitable for ages 12 months plus and retails at around £23.99.

Lee Stafford Curl Your Heart Out Cone Wand Review & Giveaway

I’m forever getting in a rut when it comes to styling my hair. I’ve gotten into the habit of scraping it back into a ponytail most days. As a busy mum it just seems easier to shove it up. Sometimes I want to make more of an effort but other than wearing it down and using my straighteners I don’t do much else. I’ve always wanted to learn how to curl it so when I was given the opportunity to review the new Lee Stafford Curl Your Heart Out Cone Wand I was excited.

Even more exciting is that I have one to give away to one of my lovely readers. Read my review then use the gleam app below to enter.

The curl your heart out cone wand has been designed to help you achieve salon quality curls at home. You can use the wand to effortlessly create your desired curl. The cone wand has many features like

  • Graduating tourmaline-ceramic barrel to help create long-lasting defined curls.
  • Ceramic coating for an anti-frizz finish.
  • 13-25 mm barrel to create root volume and drop curl tips.
  • On/Off switch with LED indicator.
  • Heat rest stand.
  • 3 meter swivel power cord.
  • Heats up to 210 degrees.
  • Includes heat protection glove.
  • Worldwide voltage.

I was excited to start using the cone wand. I couldn’t wait to see the results.

Starting with wiping over the barrel with a soft dry cloth as instructed. I brushed my hair to make sure it was tangle free and then began sectioning it. Using the heat protection glove I started with the widest end and began wrapping my hair down the barrel.

I kept my hair in place for around 10 seconds before releasing and repeating with the next section. Initially I was worried about my hair being too thick to get a decent results. I needn’t have worried, I ended up with lovely loose curls and was really happy with the results.

I’m not sure if I would be able to create tighter curls with the cone want purely because of the weight and length of my hair. I’ve tried other styling wands before which have given me really disappointing results so I’m more than impressed with the curls I achieved.

I found the cone wand very easy to use. It’s lightweight to hold and the cord is flexible enough to reach round the whole of my head.

The Lee Stafford Curl Your Heart Out Cone Wand is available to buy priced at £20 from Amazon  and other good electrical retailers.

If would like to create beautiful curls for yourself then be sure to enter my giveaway. Have a quick read of my terms & conditions then enter below using the gleam app.

L.O.L Surprise Doll Review & Giveaway

Daisy is a massive fan of surprise toys. Most trips to the supermarket usually involve her bringing home a new surprise toy. She loves to watch her favourite YouTube channels where she can find unboxing videos. Last year she was sent an L.O.L Surprise! Doll just in time for their UK release. She loved it and it’s still one of her favourite things to play with now.

We were asked if we would like to review another L.O.L Surprise! doll. We have one to offer as a prize too. Of course we said yes. Read to the end where you will find details of how to enter the giveaway.

L.O.L Surprise! are a new range of collectable dolls. You will find 7 layers of surprise with every one. Each one contains a doll with mix and match accessories. You unwrap each layer to reveal the surprises until you finally find out which doll you have got.

There are over 45 dolls to collect in series 1, you could even find one of the ultra rare dolls inside. Once unwrapped the ball could be used as a carry case, bath, doll display or even a hangout play set. There’s also an extra little surprise if you add water either to the doll or the little drinking cup.

Daisy couldn’t wait to start unwrapping her surprises. The gold ball gave her some clue that the doll inside might be a special one.

I love that these toys are easy for her open herself, she was able to remove each wrapper by using the ‘zip’ on each layer.

Daisy was right about her doll being special. She got the rare Cosmic Queen from The Glitterati club. Her hair, outfit and even her drinking bottle are covered in glitter.

One of my favourite features is that it can be safely stored away in the ball when playtime is over. This saves any of the little accessories going astray. I think the L.O.L Surprise! doll would make a lovely gift or pocket money treat.

As you can tell from the photo’s these surprise toys get a big thumbs up from Daisy.

L.O.L Surprise! usually retail at around £7.99 and can be found on Amazon and other good toy retailers.

Fuzzikins Craft Cottontail Cottage Review

Daisy is already a big fan of the Fuzzikins Craft range of toys, she’s had great fun with the Cozy Cats and Dozy Dogs. We were recently asked if we would like to review the Cottontail Cottage which I thought Daisy would love and I wasn’t wrong.

Fuzzikins are adorable little flocked creatures that can be coloured in and played with. The Cottontails Cottage which is part of the range not only comes with gorgeous little rabbits but it includes a pop-up 3D play house too. The set also comes with lots of accessories to decorate the cottage.

Daisy got to work straight away colouring in her rabbits, this part can get messy but the felt pens wash easily off with soap and water. She decided to go fairly minimum this time as she loved that the rabbits were white. I think she was too eager to get the rabbits in to their new home, she can always add some colour at a later date.

She had such fun exploring the rooms, putting the rabbits to bed and in the kitchen. Jake also joined in and they played nicely for over half an hour which is a miracle in this house !

I liked how easy the house was to assemble and that it can be folded away with minimal storage for future uses. The furniture is part of the pop-out 3D theme meaning no little parts to be hunting around for, this is a huge bonus.

I also love how customisable the Fuzzikins Craft sets are, they really spark Daisy’s imagination and creativity.

You can find out more about Fuzzikins Craft on the Facebook page, you will also find lots of fun there too.

*We were sent the Fuzzikins Craft free of charge for the purpose of review. All thoughts and opinions are our own*

Baby Annabell Interactive Doll Review

Daisy has a few baby dolls in her collection of toys, she loves to play ‘mummy’ with them. Recently we were sent the new Baby Annabell Interactive doll for her to review. I knew Daisy would be delighted with this doll, it has lots of new features making it even more lifelike.

The new Baby Annabell Interactive doll features realistic sounds and movements just like a real baby.

  • She babbles and gurgles.
  • She sucks on her dummy and bottle.
  • She can wet her nappy and use the potty.
  • She cries real tears, burps and yawns.
  • She responds to touch and movement.
  • She falls to sleep and gently snores.

The doll comes dressed in a beautiful soft velour pink all-in-one with a cute little cap. She also comes with her bottle, a dummy, one nappy, a bib and a cute pendant. The doll requires 4 AA batteries which are not included.

It’s fair to say that Daisy loved this doll right from the start, she was fascinated buy the sounds of movement of Baby Annabell’s mouth when she had her dummy or bottle in.

I think the doll was the perfect size for Daisy, she felt much more like a real baby would than other dolls that we have.

Daisy loved pretending to feed her dolly and then changing her nappy afterwards. I think we will definitely need to buy some extra nappies and the potty to make the most of this feature.

I asked Daisy what her favourite thing was about Baby Annabell and she said it was how soft her clothes felt and that she moved her mouth and closed her eyes when she had her dummy in. Her least favourite thing was when she cried and I have to agree with her of course.

The new Baby Annabell Interactive Doll is available now from all good retailers and with an RRP of £54.99.

*We were sent the doll free of charge in exchange for a review. All thoughts and opinions are our own*

The Dolmio #ThankGoodness Challenge

I don’t know about you but I dread meal planning. I have a house full of fussy eaters who are very difficult to please. By the middle of the week I’m low on ideas and motivation. When Britmums and Dolmio challenged me to create a #ThankGoodness mid-week meal I didn’t hesitate to accept.

I was sent a lovely hamper of goodies to help me create a simple good-for-you meal including a jar of Dolmio Bolognese sauce. Dolmio Bolognese original sauce is 100% natural. One jar provides a family of four with one of their 5-a-day each without even adding any vegetables. Each jar contains at least 10 juicy diced tomatoes, tomato puree, half an onion, sunflower oil, garlic cloves, herbs, cornflour, 2 teaspoons of added beet sugar for taste, a squeeze of lemon juice, a pinch of salt and pepper and a splash of water and nothing else.

I decided to make a classic spaghetti Bolognese with a little twist of sneaky vegetables included. I cubed 2 courgettes, sliced a handful of mushrooms, chopped an onion and diced a pepper. I knew that the veggies would reduce in size whilst cooking making them a sneaky addition to the dish. I also finely chopped some garlic cloves and added those too.

I fried all the vegetables together with a tablespoon of olive oil over a medium heat. Once softened I added 500g of steak mince and browned until cooked. I then added a 500g jar of Dolmio Bolognese sauce and simmered until heated through.

I had a little helper whilst I cooked, he seemed to take a shine to the garlic bulbs.

I boiled some wholewheat spaghetti for myself and Chris and made the children their preferred cheesy pasta as a side.

We all tucked in and it was delicious. The meal got the thumbs up from both the children and the only sneaky veg they noticed was the mushrooms which I count as a massive win.

As the hamper had been so generous I decided to make another delicious meal using the other jar of Dolmio Bolognese sauce. I wanted to go with another pasta dish as my children really enjoy them. I settled on a simple chicken, cheese and tomato pasta bake. I have never made this with a jar sauce before so I was a little worried as to how it would turn out.

This time I used mushrooms, courgettes, onion and garlic. After softening them in a tablespoon of olive oil I added two cubed chicken breasts and cooked through. I then added the jar of Bolognese sauce. Once the meat and sauce were thoroughly cooked I added some cooked pasta and stirred together. I emptied the contents in to a baking dish and covered generously with a mixture of cheddar cheese and grated parmasan. Once baked in the oven for 20 minutes it came out looking and smelling delicious.

It was one of the nicest pasta bakes I have ever made, even the children wanted seconds. Sadly the mushrooms didn’t go unnoticed but I will keep trying. We have eaten so well thanks to the Britmums and Dolmio #ThankGoodness challenge. It’s certainly shown me that mid-week meals can be anything but boring.

Both meals were thoroughly enjoyed by the whole family even the fussy ones and will now become a regular feature on our meal plan.

If you want to see lots more delicious recipes and mid week motivation head over to the Dolmio website.

This post is an entry for the #Dolmio #ThankGoodness Challenge, sponsored by Dolmio.

Lee Stafford uBunTu Oils Straight & Juicy Irons Review & Giveaway

I’ve been blessed (or cursed) with a head full of wavy hair since birth. I use straighteners every single day, without them it’s not a pretty sight I assure you. Think of a cross between Worzel Gummidge and Diana Ross and you are half way there. My old straighteners have seen better days so when I was asked if I wanted to review the new Lee Stafford uBunTu Oils Straight & Juicy Irons of course I said yes.

The uBunTu Oils Straight and Juicy Irons come in a gorgeous hot pink and lime green colour. They are professional quality and the plates are infused with uBunTu oilf from Africa. The oils help to leave your hair feeling pampered, restored and full of juicy goodness.

The straighteners also have lots of other great features like:

Fast 60 second heat up time.

A 60 minute auto shut off for safety.

Variable temperature with LED indicator.

They straighten and curl.

360 degree swivel cord.

Lockable switch to protect the plates.

What Did I Think

I have used some of the Lee Stafford hair products before, but I didn’t know their was an electrical beauty range available too.

After washing and drying my hair I set to work with the straighteners, sectioning my hair as usual.

Firstly, I love how smooth these straighteners are to use. They are really comfortable and lightweight to hold. I also found that the oils on the plates helped them to glide through my thick hair easily, I have had some snagging in the past with other models.

There was also none of the usual static I have experienced with other straighteners in the past which was a huge bonus.

I really liked that I could adjust the temperature myself. I need a higher temperature for the thicker parts of my hair and a lower temperature for the delicate parts like my fringe. I think one of the biggest advantages these straighteners have over similar competitors is the ability to control the temperature with the LED display.

I was really happy with the results, my hair felt lovely and smooth. It also looked glossy and really healthy. I would definitely recommend these straighteners if you are in the market for a new pair. I also think they would make a lovely Birthday or Christmas present.

As you know I do love a bargain and that’s certainly what these are. Don’t worry though, the quality hasn’t been compromised at all. They are available from Amazon for £29.99 which I think is a fantastic price.

The Review Directory have kindly offered a set of the Lee Stafford Straight & Juicy Irons for one of my lovely readers to win for themselves. You can enter using the Gleam app below.

Bidvine Review

Recently I’ve been thinking about getting a professional family photograph done. It would be lovely to have us all in the same photograph as very often it’s either me or Mr Webster taking it. I didn’t have a clue where to start looking so when Bidvine got in touch to ask me to review their service I thought it would the perfect opportunity to find someone local for the job.

Bidvine connects customers with local service providers and professionals all over the UK. Whether you want your tap repairing, a florist for your wedding or a personal trainer Bidvine can help you find one to suit your needs. The service is totally free for the customer and provides you with competitive bids for you to choose from.

Using the website is super simple. You type in the service you are looking for, I went with family portrait photography and then you enter your postcode. You will then be asked a series of questions to further specify exactly what it is you need from the service. I found this part really useful as it means that you will receive a more accurate bid estimate.

Some of the multiple choice questions included things like the size of the party to be photographed and the location I would like the photograph taken in. The whole process of answering took about a minute to complete.

Once completed your job request is sent to trusted local professionals who then have up to four days to contact you with their bid. How many bids you receive will depend upon the nature of your request or other factors such as seasonality.

Once you have your bids then it’s up to you to decide who to choose.

I would definitely recommend Bidvine as a first choice when you have those niggling little jobs that need doing or if you want to employ someone trustworthy and local. I think Bidvine is a great service for people with a busy lifestyle. who want a quick and easy way to get a job done.

BrainBox Peppa Pig Review & Giveaway

Daisy and Jake are both massive Peppa Pig fans. I’ve lost count of the number of episodes we have watched over the years. We also love playing games together, we can often be found on a Saturday afternoon partaking in one or two. When we were asked if we would like to review the new Brainbox Peppa Pig game we were delighted, we could combine our love of both.

Brainbox Peppa Pig helps children with their observation and memory skills. There are 55 cards and each one features Peppa and her little brother George in a whole variety of situations. The aim of the game is to study the scene on the card, remember as much as you can about it and then answer some questions to test your memory.

Daisy and I played the game together although it can be adapted for a single player. Daisy has a fantastic memory so I knew she would love this game.

We took it in turns to choose a card, we had until the sand timer ran out to memorise as much as we could about the scene. Next we rolled the dice to decide how many questions we had to answer, there are five questions on the back of each card.

Daisy did really well with this part, better than me in fact! Another great thing about the cards is they helped with Daisy’s reading skills. She insisted on reading the captions on the bottom of each card.

Brainbox have kindly offered one of my readers a chance to win the Peppa Pig game for themselves. You can enter using the Gleam app below. There are two mandatory tasks and the rest are optional, you can even come back every day for extra entries. Please also take some time to read the terms and conditions of the giveaway.

PizzaExpress Formby Review

Last week Chris and I were invited sample the menu at the newly opened Formby branch of PizzaExpress. We hadn’t been to a PizzaExpress before but had heard lots of good things about their food. We were excited to not only enjoy a child free evening but also to share a delicious meal together.

The stylish new PizzaExpress opened on February 13th in the heart of Formby which is a lovely little coastal town in the North West. It’s opening has provided an additional 20 jobs within the community.

When we arrived the restaurant looked so inviting, there’s a gorgeous outside seating area that I’m sure will be very popular in the warmer months.

Once inside we were greeted and shown straight to our table by the window. I was in awe at the interior and took some time to take it all in and take some photograph’s of course. The restaurant has been designed with relaxation in mind. The interior has incorporated a rustic coastal theme in keeping with the seaside setting of Formby.

There was a feature lighting  piece on the ceiling which I couldn’t take my eyes off. Even the artwork which celebrates the first British lifeboat station which was in Formby is amazing.

Once we were comfortable and our drinks has arrived it was time to order our starters. I went with a course from the Winter specials menu. I chose Pennette Formaggi which is a twist on the classic Macaroni Cheese with a three cheese and mustard sauce. It was so tasty I loved the addition of mustard, it gave the dish a little heat.

Chris and I decided to go with pizzas for out mains, choosing to order both the Winter specials. We chose to split them between us so we could each try them.

I’m so glad we had a jug of iced water on our table as the pizzas certainly were on the spicy side. We enjoyed the Barbacoa Romano and the Etna Romana. Both were as delicious as each other. I want to add a little side note here, if you do order a pizza they come unsliced. In hindsight we probably should have asked for a pizza slice as we did struggle slightly trying to cut the Romana base.

You can actually watch the pizzas being made at the Pizzaiola counter in the centre of the restaurant. These guys and girls really know what they are doing when it comes to creating the perfect dough and tasty toppings.

Throughout the lovely waitress who was looking after us came to check that everything was okay with our meal. Her timings were perfect and we never felt rushed or hassled which is one of my pet hates when dining out.

I also have to say that the restaurant has a really good selection of drinks on the menu. I went with a Peroni to keep the Italian theme going and finished off with a sparkling glass of Prosecco.

There were so many delicious desserts to choose from but I went with the mouth watering Chocolate Fondant. The warm chocolate cake had a melting centre and was topped with a vanilla gelato. It was out of this world, a pure indulgence and a real treat. Chris went with a classic chocolate fudge cake and cream which he thoroughly enjoyed.

We left having experienced excellent customer service, delicious food and a lovely relaxing atmosphere.

My only criticism of the whole experience would be the tiny table we were seated at. Although the marble topped tables are beautiful they just aren’t practical, we quickly ran out of room. The guests next to us asked for another table to be added and I’m sure had we asked we would have been obliged straight away.

PizzaExpress is now definitely on our list of places we want to dine at again. There’s lots more of their delicious menu we want to try, the pasta dishes looked amazing.

You can view the full menu and find a PizzaExpress local to you on their website.
