Word Of The Week-Halloween

What other word could I choose this week but Halloween. Most of our week has revolved around the celebration. The kids are still on half-term which Halloween feel even more special.

I know lots of people dislike Halloween but I look at it as another fun holiday to celebrate. The kids love it and so do we, it gives us a great opportunity to embrace and create family traditions.

This year we went to a local pumpkin patch to pick our own pumpkins. We had so much fun and it will definitely become an Autumn tradition.

The kids had great fun with Daddy carving their pumpkins. I totally forgot to take any photo’s of the finished designs before they took pride of place on top of the porch.

This year was the first time that Jake has taken a real interest in Halloween. He was very excited to experience trick or treating for the very first time.

Jake had no interest in the spooky costumes available and instead opted to be Batman, his favourite super vigilante. Daisy chose a day of the dead costume, I love the designs on the sugar skulls so I was more than happy with her choice.

Both kids woke on Halloween morning and were slightly disappointed when I said it wasn’t time to trick or treat yet. The disappointment didn’t last long when I produced a plate of Halloween treats for them.

The afternoon was spent watching Halloween episodes of Tom & Jerry. It was soon time for costumes and face paint. Daddy did a great job with Daisy’s spooky face. Once dressed they were raring to go and happily raced out the door with their buckets.

We had lots of spooky knocks on the door, so many that we almost ran out of sweets. It seems like lots more people are taking part and celebrating the fun which I think is wonderful. The kids came back happy with their buckets full to the brim with treats.

It really has been a fantastic Halloween this year.

You might enjoy my previous word of the week post, Nice .

  1. I does sound like a great week, and well done Dad with Daisy’s make-up. Both kids look fantastic. We have picked our pumpkins from a field in the past which was fun but this year we opted to go to a local farm and pick from their farm shop. Then we did our carving in a special spooky tent, which was great because all the tools were there and there was cleaning up for me to do.

  2. Oh my goodness. Don’t the pair of them look fabulous. That makeup is brilliant. Well done. Couldn’t agree more with you about celebrating and family tradition making. Halloween is one of my favourites. We had lots of fun. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. #wotw

  3. What a fun week, lots of Halloween adventures! Glad you all enjoyed it, and so many yummy treats, too. We had loads more people knocking on our door than we’ve ever had before, so it does seem that more people are entering into it x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

  4. Ah the costumes look great I love them, Halloween is such a fun time. Joe got dressed up and had a fab time, that is one of the things I miss about living so remote that we don’t get trick or treaters i love how excited kids get about it x
