The lovely people at Soreen got in touch with me to ask if I would like to create some recipes using their products as they now come in a variety of flavours including original, banana and cinnamon and raisin.

They sent me a yellow box of loveliness and left the rest up to me.

I had a great idea for the banana loaf but needed some inspiration for the original loaf so I had a look on the Soreen website and found a recipe for some tasty-looking flapjacks.

Banana Bread And Butter Pudding

I adapted a classic bread and butter pudding as it’s one of the easiest puddings to make and never fails to hit the spot, I also knew that it would be easy for little hands to help me make it.

Recipe

  • 25g/1oz butter
  • 2 Soreen Banana Loaves
  • 50g/2oz Sultanas
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon powder
  • 350ml/12fl oz Whole Milk
  • 50ml/2fl oz Double Cream
  • 2 free-range Eggs
  • 25g/1oz Granulated Sugar
Method
Grease a rectangular pie dish with butter.
Slice the Soreen Banana Loaf.
Arrange a layer of bread, buttered-side up, in the bottom of the dish, then add a layer of sultanas. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon, then repeat the layers of bread and sultanas, sprinkling with cinnamon, until you have used up all of the bread.
Gently warm the milk and cream in a pan over low heat be careful not to let it boil.
Break the eggs into a bowl, add the sugar, and lightly whisk.
Add the warm milk and cream mixture to the bowl and stir it all together.
Pour the custard over the bread layers and sprinkle with a little more cinnamon.
Preheat the oven to 180C/Gas 4.
Bake for 30-40 minutes until the custard has set.
Indulge in a big hearty bowl.

Easy for little hands to help with

Before

I may have also indulged in one or two slices the traditional way.

  1. Love this post :o) I have been sent a box too, I've got a little inspiration for the banana loaf but it's the original causing me issues too – it doesn't last long enough in this house to make anything with!
