Word Of The Week – Slow

I’ve chosen slow for a number of reasons this week. Life has been lived at a much slower pace and it’s been very much-needed by all of us.

We are at the mid-point of the summer holidays and I’m fast running out of ways to entertain the children. The virus we had a couple of weeks ago is still lingering so I took the decision to have some downtime. Apart from meeting friends at the park on Wednesday I made no other plans. There has been some boredom but I don’t think that’s a bad thing for the kids to learn.

There have been lazy mornings, pyjama days, movies and crafts it’s been just what we all needed.

I took a few days off work this week too. One of the reasons why I decided to become self-employed so I could take time off if I needed to. Of course the worry remains about missing out on work but sometimes it’s necessary to listen to your body and slow down. Work has been very slow over the summer which isn’t a bad thing It’s pushed me out of my comfort zone to actively seek opportunities myself.

I’m hoping to pick up the pace again next week as we still have lots to tick off our summer bucket list. A week of slow has renewed my energy and I’m ready to go again.

  1. ahh sometimes you do just need to slow down and do very little. Good luck with filling the rest of the holidays, my worry is what we are going to do when all the other kids have gone back to school and my kids are still off for a couple of weeks.

  2. I so agree that kids need to learn to manage boredom or they constantly crave activity which is not achievable, and I do love a pj and movie day every now and then, I hope you have a fab week next week.
