Kinetic Sand {Review}

Daisy has a sand table which she loves playing with when she’s in the garden. She likes to build castles, make shapes and bury treasures to dig up the only problem is that she can only do this if the weather is dry. We don’t have any space indoors for her to play with it so when I spotted kinetic sand on a Youtube video I knew I had found the solution.

I did lots of research before I bought this Kinetic Sandbox set from Amazon, I wanted something compact that was easy to tidy away but was also lots of fun to play with, this set is the perfect size for Daisy.

I’m absolutely fascinated by the concept of kinetic sand, it’s made up of 98% sand and 2% polymers and it mimics the properties of wet sand which makes it ideal for sculpting and building.

It’s also great for sensory play, I myself have found it very therapeutic to watch it tumble through my fingers almost like liquid and then regain its solid shape, Daisy and I have had great fun sculpting with it and using the moulds to create an underwater theme, she particularly loves squeezing it through her fingers and letting it fall back into the box.

The set comes with a plastic sandbox, 1lb of purple kinetic sand and four moulds, I did worry that it wouldn’t be enough sand after reading some reviews but it’s plenty for one or two children to play with, and it’s suitable for ages 3 years and up.

As well as being super easy to tidy up the sand never dries out so you can easily store it back on the toy shelf or cupboard, I think it will be a firm favourite of hours for years to come.
