I’ve written about how much we love Kinetic Sand before, the kids still choose to play with it regularly. We recently got the chance to try Kinetic Rock, I knew the kids would love it just as much as the sand. Jake’s favourite thing to do at the moment is build, whether it’s with blocks or sand. He loves anything to do with construction and gets very excited when he spots a digger when we are out and about.

The Kinetic Rock Crusher set gives kids the chance to have some real construction fun at home. Kinetic rock is real rock that magically sticks together making it perfect to shape and mould. The set comes with:

  • 12oz of Kinetic Rock.
  • Dump truck with a bucket.
  • Rock crusher.
  • Character figurine.
  • Rock mould.
  • Tool.
  • Transformable sand box.

Jake couldn’t wait to get the box open and start playing. The set does require some assembly but it only takes a minute or two to get set up. I really like that the box opens out into a large play space themed like a building site. We used a messy mat underneath as some of the rock does escape the box during play.

Jake loved the rock crusher best, he spent ages filling it with rocks and turning the handle to crush it up. He also liked playing with the little figure, placing him in the dump truck and making him use the tool on a pile of rocks.

The rock mould is great for building the rocks to put in the crusher or transport in the dump truck.

I love this set encourages imaginative play as well as a sensory experience. The rock was easy for Jake to mould and shape and it sticks together really well although some inevitably end up on the floor. Clean-up is relatively easy as the rocks stick together but be warned there might be the odd stray rock scattered around the house. We had some stuck to our socks and I even found one in my bed.

Jake sat for over two hours building and crushing and was very reluctant to tidy away at tea time. He has asked for the set out every day since it arrived. We will definitely be investing in more sets from the range.

Jake really enjoyed playing with the kinetic rock crusher set, it ticked all the right boxes for him. Daisy liked playing with it too although it was hard to get a look in with Jake hogging it. I think this set would make a fantastic birthday or Christmas gift. I can’t wait to see what the kinetic team come up with next.
