Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll Review

When I first saw the new Lalaloopsy Potty Surprise doll advertised on the TV recently I will admit that I rolled my eyes and was a little sceptical. A certain little girl in our house was very excited at the concept of a doll with a potty that actually pooped. Only a 5 year old could find bodily functions, especially if they involve sparkly shapes entertaining.

Does anyone else’s children watched endless videos on YouTube of pooping dolls ? have you seen how many views they attract. There’s definitely something to said for toilet humour !

As you can imagine Daisy was over the moon when a Lalaloopsy Potty Surprise doll arrived for her to review. I couldn’t get it out of the box quickly enough for her !

The Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Jewel Sparkle doll is a new and fun edition to the ‘Sew Cute’ range. Jewel Sparkle magically poops colourful surprise shapes in her potty.

Included in the box is everything you need, the doll, 3 different coloured pots of food, a bowl, a spoon and a very adorable pink potty.

Daisy started by turning the dial on the dolls back which changes the the shape of the surprise. She then spooned the food (which is like a magic sand consistency) in to the dolls mouth. There is a button to twist in place of her belly button and this is the only part that daisy really needed help with as it’s a little tricky for small hands.

Once Daisy had taken the dolls nappy off she sat her on the potty. There’s a little button that presses on a ridge of the potty which helps the poop (shape) on it’s way. Daisy was incredibly excited to find a colourful poop in the potty, her first one was a flower shape. She then spent the best part of an hour feeding the doll and filling the potty up with tiny surprises.

There are four surprise shapes, a heart, a flower, a star and a button. You can also mix up the food to create lots fun colours.

Apart from the fact that this Lalaloopsy doll keeps Daisy and Jake occupied for ages I also love that it doesn’t need any batteries. I also really like that it can be used over and over again.

The Lalaloopsy Babies Potty Surprise Doll is available a all good toy retailers including Amazon. You can also keep up with news about the latest ranges by visiting the Lalaloopsy website or following on Twitter.

Review: Splashy the Whale

I don’t know about you but I loved playing board games as a child. Daisy has recently taken an interest in playing games so when we were asked to review Splashy the Whale by John Adams I knew the whole family would love it.

Splashy the Whale is a fun electronic skirting skill and action game, he eats anything he finds out at sea and if you tickle his tongue while you try and retrieve the pieces with your fishing rod he will squirt you with water.img_27291 img_27381 Setting up the game is super easy, you will need 3 AA batteries (not included) then you just fill the reservoir up with water. There is an on off button on the side, I found this useful for when we just wanted to play without the water which is still lots of fun.img_27391You place all the pieces in Splashy the Whale’s mouth, grab your fishing rod and you are good to go. Each player takes it in turns to retrieve one of the pieces of flotsam and jetsam. Each piece has a different point value for example an anchor is worth 2 points and a submarine is worth 5 points.

The player with the most points when all the objects have been removed is the winner.

As a family we had so much fun taking it in turns to hook the pieces out of Splashy’s mouth. One thing I would suggest is that you put a water proof mat under the game we used our large messy mats that we use for crafts.img_27631img_27571 img_27531 img_27451There were squeals of delight from the children when Splashy soaked them and the competition to hook the highest value piece was fierce.

I think the game is great for developing hand eye co-ordination skills as well as providing a wonderful sensory experience. I found it a fun way to teach the children about taking turns and encourage mathematical skills by counting the number of points they had at the end of the game.

Since the game arrived it’s not been back in it’s box, the children want to play every day.

Splashy the Whale is suitable for ages 4+ and adult supervision is advised. The game is available to buy from Amazon and other good toy retailers.

Does Splashy the Whale look like a game your family would enjoy ? leave me a comment I love hearing from you.

Disney Princess Belle Musical Tea Party Cart Review

Last month I attended Blog On which is a wonderful conference for bloggers, there was a chance to interact and talk to brands and one brand caught my eye in particular because they had on display the new Disney Princess Belle Musical Tea Party Cart.

I couldn’t resist having a little play with the cart and also gaze adoringly at it (yes I’m a Disney geek) I knew that it would be something that Daisy would absolutely love so when we were offered one to review I jumped at the chance.

disney-princessbellemusicaltea-partycartTea parties and Disney Princesses are extremely popular at our house so you can imagine the level of excitement when Daisy realised she could combine her love of both.

The Disney Princess Belle Musical Tea Party Cart by Jakks Pacific is a musical  tea cart that has been inspired by Disney’s Beauty & The Beast movie. It comes with a cart you can roll along, a Mrs Potts teapot with removable lid, a Chip tea cup, a plain tea cup, two teaspoons and a party invitation.img_2360 img_2368 img_2374With the push of the rose shaped button on the side of the cart you can listen to the popular song from the movie ‘Be Our Guest’ you can roll the cart and watch as Mrs Potts and the tea cups spin around in time to the music, you can stop the music at any time by pressing the button again. There is a switch to turn this function off completely on the underside of the tray.

Daisy has had so much fun hosting tea parties and singing along with the tea cart, we have all been treated to endless cups of tea and biscuits. I’ve promised Daisy that our family movie this weekend will be Beauty & The Beast so she can watch the characters come to life and listen to the full version of ‘Be Our Guest’.img_2378

img_2383 img_2386 img_2390I asked Daisy what her favourite thing was about the cart and she told me she liked the music and that she can make cups of tea for Mummy, Daddy and Jake.

I particularly liked the stickers and detail on the cart which depicts scenes from the Disney movie, I love the pastel pink and yellow shades which compliment each other perfectly and make the cart look super pretty.

I think the cart would make a wonderful birthday or Christmas present for any Disney Princess fan, it’s fantastic for encouraging role play and imagination.

The cart is suitable for ages 3+ requires adult assembly and 3 AA batteries (which are supplied) and can be found at all Smyths Toy Stores.

Brightlings Review

Last week Daisy was delighted to return home from school to a parcel, upon opening the it she found a Brightings doll that Spin Master Toys had sent for us to review. Brightlings are soft bodied interactive dolls that can say over 100 phrases, they also create music and record anything you say and repeat it back to you.

img_1923 img_1930When the Brightlings doll is in interactive mode their faces light to display an animated mouth which I think is awesome, Daisy loved this feature too, it really makes the doll come alive.

img_1936

img_1943In play mode the Brightlings will talk to you, you can also move it around and press it’s tummy to activate new phrases.

Music mode is my personal favourite, Brightlings create music in six different styles I love the yodel style the best although I can’t help but giggle when it says ‘Jazz Baby’.

img_1939Daisy’s favourite mode is record, she loves pressing the it’s ear to say silly things to it then listen to them back, she can also change the voice by moving it from side to side. She never tires of the record mode making up her own silly words and having them played back to her in crazy voices really does make her happy.

img_1933Daisy has really enjoyed playing with and getting to know her Brightlings doll, it’s already become a firm favourite.

Brightlings come in 3 different colours, we were sent the Teal one but you can also get Purple and Pink, they cost around £29.99 from most toy retailers.
