Ahoy Matey! Welcome Aboard #TuesdayTreasures

Welcome to this weeks #TuesdayTreasures blog linky with myself and the lovely Rachel from RachelSwirl.

The Blog With The Booty

Each week one post which has been added to the #TuesdayTreasures linky is selected by both Rachel and myself to share with you all resulting in two winning (a winner is chosen by each of us).

This week I really loved reading 10 Reasons I’m #RockingMotherhood by The Parenting Trials . Parents are always giving themselves a hard time, feeling guilty about just about everything. It makes such a refreshing change to read a post celebrating the achievements of parenting instead.

Parenting Trials is a UK family, travel and lifestyle blog.

You can read more of their lovely posts here.

I’ve chosen this weeks post as I’ve been through something similar with Jake in the past. Why Won’t My Son Sleep ? by Amy & Tots  is a poignant and emotional read. For me sleep deprivation has been the hardest part of parenting and I hope this phase will pass quickly for Amy.

Amy & Tots is written by Amy a super mama from the West Midlands. She started blogging in 2015 whilst pregnant with her second baby. She’s now a proud mama of 3 under 3’s and fiancè to Darren. Amy blogs about pregnancy, parenting and lifestyle.

You can read more lovely posts from Amy & Tots here.

This week I really enjoyed reading Fortune favours the brave  by Whatmyfridgesays. This year I’m focusing on being positive and this post about turning anxiety in to action really struck a chord for me.

I’m certainly going to take action this year and face up to my fears in all areas of my life.

Whatmyfridgesays is a wonderful motivational blog. After using her sons brightly coloured alphabet letters to create motivation on the fridge door to brighten her day it soon became a talking point. After sharing on Facebook and Instagram it naturally progressed into the creation of a blog. Hoping to inspire and motivate this blog is full of lovely positive posts.

You can read more uplifting inspiring posts by Whatmyfridgesays here.

A Christmas Tree in November

Up until Friday we didn’t have a Christmas tree at all. In a mad January declutter we threw our old decrepit one away with the intention of picking up a snazzy new one in the sales. Needless to say this never happened.

Traditionally I like to put the tree up on December 1st and with that date approaching I had to bite the bullet and pay full price for a new one, ouch. That’s not really the point of this post though.

All across social media I have seen people putting their trees up and making their homes all festive since the beginning of November. I will admit that I scoffed at their eagerness. Once home with our new tree I bet you can guess what I decided to do next.

Yes, I the traditionalist have my Christmas tree up, decorated and twinkling whilst we are still in November. The Christmas soft toys are out and the festive scented candles are burning away.img_30371The children had great fun decorating it with the eclectic mix of baubles we have. img_30591 img_30441 img_30471Our house is that little bit more cosy and warm and it feels lovely. I’m not sure if we will always start the festivities this early. I’ve been so stressed lately it’s just the tonic I needed.

When do you put your Christmas tree up ? leave me a comment I love hearing from you.

Things I’ve Learned In My 30’s

Next month I turn 39 and I will officially be ‘pushing 40’ as they say , I don’t know why but lately I’ve been thinking about everything I’ve done in my life so far and of course what I would like to achieve going in to my 40’s. I thought it would be nice to share some pearls of wisdom and tell you some things I have learned in my 30’s.creating-atravelitineraryIt’s none of your business !

I’ve learnt that what other people think of me is truly none of my business.

Self worth

I’ve learned that I’m not defined by a number on the scales, what I look like or how clever I am.

Dry shampoo

I’ve learned that dry shampoo is my best friend.

Happiness

I’ve learned that happiness comes from within and that it’s a choice that we all have to make.

Love

I’ve learned what love is and what it isn’t. I’ve learned that you can fall out of love and that you can find true unconditional love that will last a lifetime, but most importantly I’ve learned to love myself.

People

I’ve learned that you can’t change anyone except yourself, if someone treats you terribly then walk away, no in fact run !

Ironing

I’ve learned it’s a total waste of time, I’ve not been arrested for crimes against creases yet.

Strength

I’ve learned that I’m so much stronger than I ever knew or believed.

Knowledge

I’ve learned that it’s never too late to open your mind to learning.

The Past

I’ve learned that the past does not define you at all, that you can move on and move past mistakes and bad memories and that you can close the door and never look back.

Comfort

I’ve learnt that comfort wins over style every time, hello joggers and flats.

Comparison

I’ve learned that comparing myself or my life to anyone else’s is totally pointless, comparison is the thief of joy.

Luck

I’ve learned that you make your own luck in this life, if you work harder and smarter then luck will soon follow.

Confidence

I’ve learned that when it comes to being confident you can fake it till you make it.

The small things

Most importantly I’ve learned that life is all about the moments we experience and share with others, the small things are the things you should cherish the most.

I’m linking up with Rachel from Rachel Swirl for #TuesdayTreasures

Do you have any pearls of wisdom you would like to share ? leave me a comment I love hearing from you.

My Favourite Halloween Movies

I love seasonal celebrations so it probably comes as no surprise that I have some favourite movies for each occasion, with Halloween just around corner I thought I would share with you my top ten go to Halloween inspired movies.

how-togive-your-kids-a-safeand-happy-halloweenparty

1. Hocus Pocus simply has to be at the top of this list, not only does it star Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy and the kid from Eerie Indiana it also has a talking cat what more could you want from a movie ? I think it’s the mix of cast, characters and music that makes this my ultimate favourite Halloween movie ( we will just ignore the fact is has a zombie in it).

2. A Nightmare On Elm Street was the first horror movie I ever watched, it terrified me and was followed by some questionable sequels but Johnny Depp being swallowed by a bed and Nancy getting ultra cool white streaks in her hair has me returning to it time and time again.

3. Poltergeist although I usually try and steer clear from films of a paranormal nature ( totally terrified) I can’t help but love this 1980’s classic, the clown scene is the reason I still check under my bed in my 30’s and shiver every time I hear the American national anthem (fuzzy tv scene).

4. The Nightmare Before Christmas , this is a tricky one because is it a Halloween movie or a Christmas movies ? I don’t mind either way and I happily watch it during both seasons. If you haven’t seen this movie then why on earth not ! it’s spectacular.

5. The Craft is such an underrated film, teen witches, mean girls and magic make up this tale of four friends who use their powers to wreak revenge on those that have wronged them but face the consequences of using dark magic.

6. Halloween my list wouldn’t be complete without this classic 1970’s slasher film, it’s been the inspiration for many a modern horror movie and it doesn’t even matter that I can’t remember if Micheal Myers is still out there stalking babysitter’s I lost count after the Halloween part 7 !

halloween-1001677_19207. Ghostbusters I think this movie should probably a little higher up in my list as it’s such a classic, it’s funny, silly scary and action packed my ideal Halloween movie.

8. The Strangers I watched this at the Cinema and spent the whole time holding my breath, evil-doers in masks and random violence make this a white knuckle ride from start to finish.

9. Fun Size is a Halloween night based comedy and it’s not in the slightest bit scary which suits a wuss like me to a tee.

10. An American Werewolf In London it wouldn’t be Halloween with a werewolf thrown in for good measure, I’ve certainly never strayed on to the moors since watching this movie.

bat-988224_1920So that’s my list and from it you can probably tell I’m not a fan of modern day horror, give me an old classic or a fun film over blood, gore and ghosts any day.

What’s your ultimate Halloween movie ? leave me a comment below I love hearing from you.

I’m linking up with Rachel from RachelSwirl for #TuesdayTreasures
