BritMums recently sent us some ACE Stain Remover Spray and some ACE for Colours so we could take part in the #ACEforSchool challenge. I already use ACE products as part of my usual laundry routine so I had no doubts the Stain Remover Spray would help me with those tough school uniform stains.

The first term back at school is almost over, reading books have been read, homework has been done and uniforms are already looking a little worse for wear. I don’t know about you but despite sending my kids to school looking smart and clean they never fail to return home sporting a variety of stains. Their uniforms have definitely been having some colourful school adventures indeed.

This term we have has a whole host of stains coming home after a fun day at school. There’s been mud and grass from playing football at break time. We’ve also had the dreaded marker pen stains on both their white polo shorts and school jumpers, that is one tough stain to remove. Then there’s been an array of spills and smears from lunchtime, ketchup, baked beans, jam and also some unidentifiable foodstuffs. I swear you need a degree in chemistry to work out what some of the stains might be.

If you have kids who love to create like mine you will also be tackling a whole rainbow of colourful stains. We regularly have to deal with paint, glue, chalk and felt pen stains. I don’t mind though, kids are meant to get messy and have fun while doing so.

My Top Tips For Treating School Uniform Stains

  • Treat a stain as soon as you spot it.
  • Read the care labels on the garments.
  • Look up how to treat particular fabrics and stains. ACE have a great Stain Helper section over on their website, there’s some great advice and tips for removing even the toughest stains.
  • Remove any excess debris from the stain.
  • Treat the stain from both the front and back.

ACE Stain Remover Spray with Active Oxygen

The first part of my laundry routine is to look for any stains that might need treating pre-wash. I pay extra attention to school uniforms, especially the white polo shirts. Treating the stain with ACE Stain Remover Spray is quick and simple. Turning the nozzle you simply spray the affected area completely, I do this on both sides to treat the stain thoroughly. I then leave the garment for a few minutes before putting it into the washing machine and starting my usual cycle.

One thing I was pleasantly surprised at is the spray smells really nice, there’s no awful bleach smell at all. It has a very subtle fresh clean smell. I also really like that the spray is gentle enough on clothes for everyday use, you can confidently add the treated garment along with your laundry load. There’s no need to wash anything separately. As a busy household where at least one load of laundry a day is on the go, this is a really important feature.

I love that I can still use my normal 40°C, speed wash cycle and ACE is still as effective at removing stains.

ACE for Colours

ACE for Colours is a fantastic product, one bottle does so many different jobs. It’s so good for school uniforms as it not only removes stains it also helps to keep whites bright it also keeps colours fresh too. ACE for Colours has an 8-system formula which treats food, grease, outdoors, trapped dirt, body soils, drinks, cosmetics and vegetable oil.

Again, this product has been designed to be tough on stains but gentle on clothes so you can add a capful to every single laundry load you wash. You fill the dosing cap and pour the product directly into the drum on top of the laundry then start your cycle as normal.

Both the products we tested are clean and hygienic and eliminate odours, this is something I always look for in a laundry product. My kids, like most I imagine, often use their sleeves instead of a tissue (yuck!). I like to feel confident that our clothes are really clean and hygienic after a laundry cycle.

I think I can safely say that by using ACE products, the kids can continue having lots more colourful school adventures term after term.
