The Best Ways To Sell Your Stuff

One of the quickest and easiest ways to make some extra money is to sell your unwanted, unloved and unused stuff. If like me, you love to declutter it makes sense to make money from the things you no longer want to keep.

Years ago, the only ways you could sell your unwanted stuff was through the small ads in your local paper or by placing a card in the newsagent’s window.

There are so many ways now to sell your stuff now that it can all become a bit daunting and disheartening. Before you begin you need a thick skin and realistic expectations. People want a bargain but at the same time, you want to make as much money as you can.

Here are some places where you can quickly and easily sell your unwanted stuff.

The Best Places To Sell Your Stuff

Facebook Marketplace

Local Facebook selling pages for your area are a great place to start, but you will need a good sense of humour and not get too easily offended by the low offers. You will have a better chance of selling if you include good quality photo’s of the item and give as much information about the item in the description. You can even offer to deliver within a reasonable distance for an extra fee.

Things that sell well on the Facebook marketplace are children’s toys and clothing, furniture, game consoles and mobile phones.

If you do decide to sell through Facebook be prepared for people not turning up and giving you the runaround. It’s best to state from the beginning that items will only be held for 24 hours.

Vinted

Vinted is a fantastic platform for selling your stuff, it is quick and easy to use and listings are free. It’s by far the best second-hand selling platform out there at the moment in my opinion. Upload your item, print off the shipping label and send the item to the customer it’s as simple as that.

Again the way to successful sales is by using good quality photos, and detailed descriptions and answering any questions buyers might have.

eBay

If you can make a profit after all the fees that eBay charge nowadays then it might be a profitable way to sell those higher-end items.  The advantage of eBay is that people are actively looking for specific items.

Things that sell well on eBay are beauty products, designer clothing and jewellery. Some people make a good profit from selling empty boxes of iPhones and even toilet roll tubes, it’s surprising what people will buy.

Re-Sell Stores

There are lots of re-sell stores out there that will buy your unwanted items.

You can sell things to them like DVDs, Blu-rays, game consoles, mobile phones and other small electronics. These stores won’t pay you a high amount for your goods as they need to make a profit from the re-sell but it’s worth doing if you have a bundle of items that you just want out of your home.

Clothing Weigh-In

There are companies who will buy your unwanted clothing and shoes in bulk they don’t pay much but something is better than nothing in my opinion. Companies like this sometimes weigh in books and small electronic items so definitely worth doing some research into selling this way.

A quick search will bring up results of places local to you that offer this service.

Of course, there are so many other ways online you can sell your stuff,  searching locally will bring up lots of companies that are willing to buy from you. Make sure your research before committing to anything though.

If you are willing to think outside the box then the sky’s the limit when it comes to selling your unwanted stuff.

How do you sell your unwanted stuff? I would love to hear about your experiences with selling both good and bad.
