I recently applied for and received a free sample of organic Alara Active Muesli on the Alara Cereals Facebook page. I never miss out on breakfast as I’m always ravenous first thing in the morning so I thought I would share with you what I thought of this cereal sample.

Alara Active Muesli Review

I received two 40g sample packs of into the garden-Active Organic Gluten-Free Muesli from Alara. I thought the pack size was really generous and I could easily have gotten two servings from one sample packet.

Once I poured the muesli into my bowl I thought it looked different to other muesli products I had tried in the past. The puffed amaranth is so tiny and gives the Muesli an unusual appearance but I wasn’t disappointed with the texture at all in fact I preferred it.

About The Cereal

The cereal itself contains lots of different seeds such as Pumpkin, Sesame & Sunflower, which is fantastic for a seed lover like me. I think the seeds add so much flavour and texture to the muesli.

The Muesli has no hidden nasties to sweeten it, apple is used instead. I did wonder if I would have to add some sugar or honey to sweeten but it was fine without even for a sweet tooth like mine.

All the ingredients are organically grown, it contains no artificial preservatives or additives and no GM ingredients.

It is also Gluten-free and has been designed for an active lifestyle so it’s high in vitamins and minerals.

The Taste Test

The 40g sample made for a very generous portion, I added some milk to mine but I also think that natural yoghurt would be nice with it too.

The combination of amaranth, seeds, and apple was delicious the amaranth has a really mild taste and you get the flavour of each type of seed with a little hint of sweetness from the apple.

My only criticism about this muesli is that I couldn’t spoon all of it out towards the end of the bowl as they are so small. However, I don’t think this would be a problem if I added it to yoghurt instead of milk.

I would definitely buy this Muesli and would love to try some of the other varieties available.
