Project 365 Week 23- Napping, Laughing & A Lone Strawberry

Project 365 Week 23- Napping, Laughing & A Lone Strawberry

Week 23 of Project 365 has been a bit of a mixed bag, a few bright spots balanced out by plenty of low-energy moments and naps. The highlight was definitely picking our first homegrown strawberry, small but very satisfying! I also found some unexpected but questionable treasures in the charity shops, finally found a book that broke my reading slump (and made me laugh out loud), and generally took things at a slower pace.

Sunday was spent getting all the holiday washing done and prepping for the week ahead. Daisy is back to school tomorrow, but Jake still has one more week off. This is the last time they will have different school holidays, and I’m kind of glad. It throws me off routine when one of them is here and the other isn’t.

I’ve added this photo of a reusable shopping bag, one because how adorable is it? And two, because it’s what I used in place of a gift bag for my cousin’s birthday. I started gifting presents in reusable shopping bags a few years ago, it makes so much more sense, and the recipient can use it over and over again.

We very proudly picked our first strawberry from the garden on Monday morning. I can confirm it tasted delicious, very sweet and juicy.

It was back to work for me today, so I spent some of the day in front of my laptop.

Tuesday was a very low-energy day for me, so lots of rest and napping for me. We had a delicious curry for tea, just what I needed after a hard day of snoozing.

Wednesday was another very low-energy day, I think being more active on holiday is catching up with me. I spent the day gently pottering and trying to pace myself.

I’ve been in a reading slump lately, for over a month in fact, but this Joe Lycett book is helping to pull me right out of it.

Thankfully, on Thursday, I felt a little better, so I spent some time blogging and perfecting my new theme. In the morning, I had a lovely delivery. A couple of weeks ago, I won a voucher to spend at Addison Ross, and photographed above are the gorgeous things that I chose. The candles smell amazing.

I finally had enough energy on Friday to get all the house jobs done that had been neglected so far. The bathroom is sparkling, and the vacuum has had a good workout. In the evening, we took Indie for her yearly booster. It went well, but we were advised that she’s on the heavier side for a Border Collie, so less treats for her from now on, oops.

I thought I hadn’t taken any photos on Friday, but thankfully, I had sent this photo of the most unhinged jigsaw I’ve ever found in a charity shop to my daughter, Jess. I’m going to have fun completing this one.

I had to run some errands on Saturday morning, so I quickly popped into a charity shop while I was passing. It’s been real slim pickings lately, which is disappointing, but I did find this fine display of fungi. It looks perfect on my bookshelf.

My grandson is staying over this weekend, so he and Jake have been happily playing games on their phones, going to the park and laughing a lot. They are only six months apart in age, and love being together so much.

Daisy took Indie for a walk by herself for the first time today. At 13, I feel that she’s now old enough, and she’s been asking me if she can for ages. It went really well. Indie listens to her better than she does to me anyway, so I knew it would.

  1. Aww! That bag is adorable! I have been buying reusable bags too instead of paper gift bags. There are some really fun one’s in shops like Poundland and The Works.
Yay for the strawberry and that curry looks so good!
Well done on your voucher win, you chose some gorgeous things.
Oh no! I don’t think I would like that jigsaw, those creepy dolls freak me out!

  2. I have seen that Hungry Caterpillar bag at work and so far I have resisted but I really want it. I love a good charity shop haul but our new one is rubbish

  3. I have been growing strawberries but the squirrels are quicker than I am so I have only managed to eat about half a dozen. I have also been in a bit of a reading slump but am coming out of it. I have 3 books on the go at the moment, two I am thoroughly enjoying but I am struggling with the third but do want to finish it as I know the author.

  4. That’s a good idea for gift ‘wrapping’ and fits all sizes of presents in, unlike gift bags! The charity shop I take stuff to is just so rammed, it’s not really shoppable. They need to have a huge sale to get rid of lots of it, to make space to actually stand and look for things in there. Or say no temporarily to donations! I think it’s since they moved the books to a sister store – which means I never get chance to look for books now because that other store only opens during the week.

  5. That strawberry looks perfection. The Hungry catepillar bag is very cute. Reusable bags are much better than gift bags. The curry looks so tasty.
Congratulations on your win, you have chosen some lovely things.
    Enjoy your puzzle!

  6. Reusable shopping bags are great for gift bags – especially the ones with cute designs like your Hungry Caterpillar one. How lovely to be enjoying homegrown strawberries. Glad that Daisy and Indie enjoyed their first solo walk together. #project365

  7. I tend to use shopping bags as gift bags, stronger and cheaper if you buy them in Poundland and often themed which is nice to use again. I’ve used the saying ‘fine words doth butter no parsnips’ at my husband many times over the years, he always mocked me until he heard Joe Lycett say it soon a panel quiz show.
