Five Frugal Things I’ve Done This Week {21.1.22}

Every Friday I share five frugal things that I’ve done to save or make money. I believe that a frugal lifestyle is an individual thing and there is no right or wrong way of going about it. From the smallest of savings to the greatest it all adds up and contributes to us living the life that we want for less.

Five Frugal Things

1) I used Vinted for the first time this week and ordered myself a coat after finding a large hole in my old one. I paid a little over £5 for a coat that is like new, you would never tell that it is second hand. I have to say I’m very impressed with Vinted and will definitely be buying more from the app in the future.

2) It’s been so cold this week and the temptation to switch the heating on when I’m home alone has been strong. I’ve resisted though and have been layering up instead, wearing a nice big fluffy dressing gown over my clothes and making use of the many blankets we have. I’ve also been having extra hot drinks throughout the day to warm me up too. I’m determined to combat the rising costs of energy.

3) We went to a lovely local park on Sunday and I made sure I packed enough drinks and snacks to avoid having to spend any money. I even took my own coffee in an insulated mug as it can often be tempting to buy one from those expensive little pop-up shops. The only cost was a little fuel and parking which was a reasonable £1.50 for 3 hours.

4) I’ve taken part in three different market research projects this week which were all really well paid. I enjoyed taking part so much, they were all interesting and fun to do, it’s definitely something I want to do more of.

5) My eldest daughter got a bag of clothes for her son from a free page on Facebook and passed along the things that didn’t fit for my son. It’s great having a son and a grandson only 4 months apart as it means we can always swap clothing and anything that they grow out of.

  1. Please bring this feature back to your blog. I always think that what we don’t spend contributes just as much as how much we earn contributes to our finances. These articles are very inspiring! Thanks!
