Project 365-Week 16

Project 365-Week 16

This week has been an emotionally tough one, but there have still been some lovely moments. I’ve taken lots of time to rest and reflect, I’m glad it’s been a quiet week where nothing has really had to be done.

I had a lovely walk on Monday morning with Jake and Indie. There was a very difficult decision to be made, and I always do my best thinking when I’m outside. These beautiful blossoms will turn into cherries in a month or so, the birds devour them.

As I wrote about in my Word of the Week blog post, we had to have our beautiful cat Mo put to sleep on Monday evening. As you can imagine, it was a very sad night for us, and nobody got very good sleep at all.

Tuesday was another sad day while we tried to get used to Mo not being here any more. I remembered in the evening that I hadn’t taken a photo for the day, so I snapped a quick photo of my evening snack. It’s a honey and raisin oatmeal cookie, and it was delicious.

On Wednesday, we all pretty much felt the same, so we had a relaxed day at home. It was a nice surprise when a care package from my eldest daughter arrived for us. This was so thoughtful of her, I know she loved Mo just as much as we did.

I found all these feathers in the garden on Thursday morning, I think one of the baby birds must have shed them. It didn’t look like anything sinister had happened; they were really soft and downy.

Later on that day, I watched as a Starling gathered them all up in their beak and flew away with them. They are going to make a nice cosy nest.

On Friday morning, we went to Marbury Country Park, where I knew there were lots of bluebells growing at this time of year. It didn’t disappoint, there were blankets of them covering the forest floors. We also spotted lots of wild garlic, which smelled amazing. The kids climbed some trees and got an ice-cream on the way home.

I had a quick trip to two of the local charity shops on Saturday morning, and I’m glad I did. It’s always a good day when I find some Ladybird books to add to my collection. Daisy had asked me to look for trinket dishes for her crystals, so I was happy to find her a few.

I also picked up a brand new Lego gingerbread set for only £2, which is an absolute bargain. We already have this set, so I think I’m going to put it away until the end of the year and use it as a giveaway prize.

How lovely that the shed feathers would be made into a cosy nest for baby birds.
Your charity shop stash looks fab, that Lego set is a great find! The bluebells look gorgeous.

  4. Sorry to hear about Mo. It’s always upsetting when a pet member of the family dies. Lovely of your eldest to sent the package. Your charity shop hauls are always successful. It’s reminded me I need to go and look out some more books for my son. I refuse to pay full price when he’s so picky.

  5. So sorry for the loss of your lovely cat – thinking of you and sending big hugs your way. That was lovely of your eldest daughter to send the care package and the pocket hugs are a nice way to be reminded that someone is thinking of you. Lovely to see bluebells at this time of year. #project365

  6. So sorry to hear about your cat, pets are such a huge part of the family and their loss is felt so deeply. How lovely of your daughter to send the care package.
Lovely finds again from the charity shops. We’re off to see the bluebells on the Malvern Hills later today, as they’re out in the garden, I’m hoping for a fab display on the hills.
