I’ve mentioned a few times before how much we love The Very Hungry Caterpillar in our house. Jake made his very own caterpillar in a previous blog post it has pride of place in our living room. We were recently sent some lovely new products from The Very Hungry Caterpillar range to review. Jake was delighted to open the box of goodies and find lots of things inside for him to enjoy.

Eric Carle designed, wrote and illustrated The Very Hungry Caterpillar almost 50 years ago and it’s been a bookshelf must-have ever since. The iconic book has sold over 45 million copies worldwide!

I have lovely memories from childhood of listening to the story at school. I kept up the tradition by reading the story regularly to my own children. We already have a little collection of hungry Caterpillar merchandise and I’m always excited to see new products being released. Here’s a little about the new products from the range that we received.

Jake loved colouring in the colourful characters from the Eric Carle stories. We also read the pages and talked about all the different characters, what they are and where they lived. Once he had coloured the character in we pressed it out and assembled it. It’s now taking pride of place on Jake’s bookshelf. We have plans to create more of the characters to add to his bookshelf too.

Both children had lots of fun completing the activities in the Let’s Explore book. Daisy loved the stampers with the book and stamped each page once she completed it. She even incorporated some of the activities into her homework. This book and activity really captured her imagination.

Jake was really happy to find some colouring and activity books inside the beautifully illustrated tin. There is also a sheet of stickers and a pack of felt pens inside. Jake loved arranging it all back into the tin when he had finished and has asked for his ‘tin of caterpillars’ every day since.

This book has been a big hit in our house. The kids love books that have lift-up flaps, they enjoy the element of surprise. The pages are bright and colourful and the characters are beautifully illustrated.

The melamine tray is of such good quality and feels very durable. Jake has been enjoying his afternoon snacks on it. This would make a lovely gift for the little hungry caterpillars in your life.

Both my kids enjoyed the cloudy apple drinks, they are the perfect side for lunch boxes too.

I’m looking forward to brightening up my kitchen in the new year with these fun family calendars. I think they would make lovely Christmas gifts for any very hungry Caterpillar fan.

I love these colourful age cards, they have a greeting inside along with black and white artwork.
