Advent calendars, especially those containing toys or gifts have grown rapidly in popularity over the last few years. I will admit that I absolutely love the idea of them, opening up a door every day of Advent to find a little treat is so exciting. We were recently sent a Wilko Blox advent calendar much to Jake’s (and my) excitement for review.
*Spoiler Warning* For the purpose of this review we opened all of the doors in one go to show exactly what it contains.
Wilko Blox Advent Calendar Review
The Wilko Blox advent calendar is packed full of festive models for you to build. Behind each of the 24 doors, you will find everything you need to build a festive scene including elves, a snowman, a train, Father Christmas himself and lots more. At just £8 I think this advent calendar is an absolute bargain. Blox bricks are compatible with the leading brand too.
The calendar itself is made from really sturdy thick cardboard which makes it perfect to play with once all the doors are open. I think the details on Santa’s workshop play scene are just adorable and really well thought out too.
In the box, you will find an instruction booklet to help guide your building. Behind each door we found little bags containing the blox, Jake did need a little help with the building as some pieces were tricky for little hands. Some of the models were really simple to build and others were a little more challenging. Jake was really excited to see what we find behind each different door.
Jake took some time in between buildings to play with the models, his favourites were the vehicles and the reindeer with the sleigh.
You can really tell how much thought has gone into the design of this advent calendar. I can’t believe what good value for money it is too, Jake played with it for ages afterwards.
I do hope Wilko brings out some different versions of the advent calendar in the future. I would love to see a festive ice rink or a Christmas market scene. We will definitely be playing with this for many a Christmas to come.
