Word Of The Week – Sadness

This week has been one of sadness, Chris’s mum passed away on Saturday after a short illness. Watching him have to go through such a loss has been really tough. Although sadness has dominated the week there have been some moments of laughter and memory sharing too.

I have been in absolute awe at Chris’s strength and bravery. Despite his own sadness he’s been there supporting his Dad, helping to arrange the funeral that his mum would have wanted. I think that keeping busy has really helped him although there have been plenty of tears and comforting in the evenings.

We thankfully had a little time last week to try to prepare the kids for their loss of their nanny. I think it has really helped them to cope a little better with the news. They are both doing so well, trying to understand and giving granddad lots of extra hugs.

Life is unfortunately tinged with sadness from time to time. All we can do is hold each other a little closer and be grateful for each wonderful day we are given on this earth.

  2. I am so sorry to hear your news. Even tougher to take the children through it too. I’m sure you father in law is thankful that Chris was there for him. All of you. Yes. Hug each other that little bit closer. #wotw

  3. So sorry to hear this, Angela – my thoughts are with you & your family at this difficult time. Strength & banding together at times of loss are so important, and it sounds like that’s just what you’re all doing. #WotW
