This weeks post is all about the school week and the transition from one class year to another. The school choose to use early transition so that the kids are already settled in their new classes before the summer holidays. I think this is a fantastic idea, it takes away the fear of the unknown and leaves the summer open free of worry.
Daisy was heartbroken last Friday, she spent most of the evening sobbing about not being with her lovely teacher any more. After lots of hugs and maybe a bowl of ice cream or two she was felt much better. I was slightly worried how she would be come Monday morning but I needn’t have been.
By Monday morning she was really excited to show me which door she had to go in. She loves her new teacher and all her tears have dried up. The change for Daisy has gone really well I’m happy to report.
I think I mentioned a few weeks ago that Jake was having a wobble about going to nursery. Thankfully he was back to his normal self in plenty of time for the transition.
He started the week still in nursery and ends it happily settled into his new classroom. Of course come September he will be in school full-time but I feel confident that he will settle well. On Wednesday we got to enjoy a school dinner together, it was good to see the lunchtime process for myself.
All that’s left is for me to transition from having only the mornings to myself to having the whole day. I’m sure I won’t have a problem with that at all !

What a good idea to start the transition process a little early so that the start of the school year in September is less daunting. I’m so glad that the change for Daisy has gone well even though she was so sad about having to leave her other teacher. Jake sounds like he has settled well too. Having the whole day to yourself sounds quite blissful! 🙂 #WotW
Oh, you have a nice transition! Sounds like it’s gone well and their both happily settling in. My two leave their teachers tonight so I’m expecting lots of tears here – I’d best get the ice cream in, good idea! Thanks for sharing with #WotW
I’m glad both your transition weeks have gone well, it’s always a relief that they like their new teachers and classroom. Enjoy the summer holiday x

Oh I can still remember the nerves of starting in a new class, with a new playground too. It’s tough but the kids seem to be handling it so well! Are you going to have a transition day yourself before the summer? Haha, mum needs practice too! #WotW
Ahh! The transition is such a good idea…
I am glad Daisy likes her new teacher and Jake is more settled and happy. I remember going for school dinner with my girls. It’s such a sweet thing to do.
I remember when my youngest started at full time school….I felt lost without her for the first few weeks. hehehe
I am in the same boat but remember the time when grey started nursery, it w I’ll be another change that we all have to adapt to. Have a brill summer hols X #wotw
My nephew’s teacher left a few days before May half-term and he was gutted! They didn’t tell them in advance so it was very much a shock. He seems to be OK moving classes in September.
Ah so glad it all went so well, it must be so hard for them moving from a lovely little bubble where they feel content and safe, I remember our boys being the same. I love how they do transition it so helps with all the pre September worries doesn’t it ? x
