If I had to give this week a theme it would have to be cake. We’ve indulged in a slice or two, watched a cake related TV show, celebrated with one and raised money with others. You will never find me complaining about a week that has revolved around cake.
At the weekend we went to a joint birthday party for my little niece and nephew. My sister-in-laws friend had made them a birthday cake each, a Tigger one and a Piglet one and they looked absolutely adorable. There was a slight difference in these cakes as they were totally vegan. I’ve never tried vegan cake before, it was actually quite delicious. We enjoyed a slice at the party and then took home cute little vegan cupcakes.
Later in the week we caught up with Great British Bake Off, we were a few episodes behind. I had managed to avoid any spoilers thankfully. Daisy loves watching this show with us, it’s so nice to watch something all together. It’s such a family friendly show I think.
Not technically a cake, but when I popped in the shop earlier this week I spotted mince pies on sale. I just couldn’t resist temptation and I bought a box. There’s just something magical about that first mince-pie of the year, it was delicious with a cup of coffee. Mince pies freeze really well, so I’ve done that with the rest otherwise I would have eaten the lot.
My favourite cake themed event this week has to be the coffee and cake morning at school to raise money for Macmillan cancer support. The whole school got involved, making, baking or buying cakes to sell at the big coffee morning. The kids were so excited, both about the cake and about mummy and daddy coming to school to eat with them. The event was packed, there was a great turn-out and I can’t wait to see how much they raised for Macmillan.
I think after this week cake will have to be off the menu for a while. There has definitely been a little too much overindulgence in the baked food area.

A week summed up with ‘cake’ is a good week! I saw mince pies on sale, too, seems quite early! I don’t allow myself one until December so I now have to resist for two months! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
I quite like the sound of a week revolving around cake! I don’t think I’ve tried a vegan one before. I also didn’t know mince pies froze well – that’s a useful tip to remember. Glad that the coffee and cake morning at school went well and hope they managed to raise a good amount. #WotW
A week of cake sounds like heaven Angela, omg I love mince pies, they are my fave type of sweet thing, I have them every day warm for breakfast in December. I haven’t watched bake off this year, no idea why I think it has just passed me by x
Cake has figured a lot for us too. I’m now going to try not overindulging until Christmas! #wotw
