Booms, Bangs!, Fizzes John Adams Science Set {Review}

I loved science when I was a kid, and even more so in high school. If I would have pursued a career it would definitely have included an element of science. To celebrate British Science Week we were sent a John Adams science kit to review. The kids were very excited when Booms, Bangs!, Fizzes arrived for them to have some fun with.

Booms, Bangs!, Fizzes comes with everything you need to do 12 fun experiments at home. If you love noisy, fizzing, bubbling and explosive science then this is the set for you. You could explode a rock salt depth charge or erupt an underwater volcano, the choice is yours.

The set is suitable for ages 8+ and requires adult supervision. Although Daisy and Jake are younger than this they were supervised at all times and really enjoyed watching the parts of the experiments they couldn’t do themselves.

The experiments we could choose from were:

Jet engine balloon screamer

Bike pump rocket ship

Erupting underwater volcano

Confetti shower explosion

Exploding lunch bag

Paper banger

Water bomb

Indoor lightening

Rock salt depth charge

Mad fizzing potions 1 and 2

We decided to do two of the experiments from the set starting with the underwater volcano. I really like that the set comes with everything you need to do each experiment. Daisy loved being able to measure out the fizzy drink and add the bicarbonate of soda. Both kids were delighted when the volcano erupted.

Next, it was on to the jet engine balloon screamer we set it up the length of the hall so it had lots of room to zoom. Daisy and Jake each took turns trying to blow up the balloons and then setting them off. I wasn’t quite fast enough to take photos of the balloon zooming.

There are lots more experiments for us to try over the coming weeks. The kids really enjoyed the experiments we did and are excited to do some more.
