Word Of The Week – Out

I wasn’t sure what word would best sum up my week really, so I’ve gone with the word out as that’s where I’ve been. It’s been a busy old week, we’ve all been getting out and about and this coming weekend looks set to be just as hectic too.

Last weekend we went out to a party for one of Jake’s little friends from school. It was at a soft play centre so Chris and I relaxed with a coffee while the kids wore themselves out and ate party food. On Sunday we took Jake out to the cinema for a belated birthday treat, we went to a Vue cinema that’s recently been updated with reclining seats. I have to say it’s the most comfortable I’ve ever been at the cinema. It was absolute luxury, we watched Dumbo and ate popcorn, what a lovely way to start a Sunday morning.

On Monday evening Chris and I had a rare treat of a night out at the theatre. I won tickets to see The House on Cold Hill at Manchester Opera House. Chris’s dad kindly came and babysat for us so we could go. We enjoyed a drink in the bar before the show before taking our seats for the performance. I’m not going to lie, the show wasn’t the best thing I’ve ever seen but non the less a night out together was wonderful.

Tuesday was a busy day, I had work to catch up on in the morning then Jake’s class to visit in the afternoon. This time it was for a maths workshop which was really interesting, there were lots of activities set out for us to do with the kids. If maths had been that much fun when I was at school I would have done better in my exams ! Jake’s teacher made up activity packs with maths games in for us to take home too.

Wednesday was a little less busy but I still had to go out shopping, I’ve stocked up with meals for the next two weeks so I can concentrate on holiday planning. There are still lots of little bits I need to buy for holiday like toiletries, my list seems never ending.

This weekend we are out at my cousins wedding and I’ve also got to fit in a visit to Chester too. I’m  going for my haircut too just to add even more to the mix. I’m hoping next week is going to be a quiet relaxing one.

I’m linking up with Anne from Raisie Bay for Word of the Week.

  1. The party you had for your son sounds wonderful – sit and drink coffee and chat while the kids have fun and you don’t have to worry about them! Sounds like you had a busy but fun week!

  2. Nice to have so much time out with the family. Cinema birthday outings are my favourite. Were you tempted to fall asleep in the seats? That would be me! Sorry the play wasn’t up to much, but sounds like a good night out all the same. I love all the maths games they set up for children now. Must make it more fun to learn. Hope you get through your list. Countdown continues! #wotw

  3. You have been busy!
It sounds like a fab trip to the cinema.
Such a shame the show on Monday wasn’t that great. At least it was a night out.
The maths workshop sounds wonderful. I remember goign to one when my youngest was little. It was so helpful to learn how she was being taught.
    Have a great weekend x

    1. The workshops are so helpful for being able to help the kids at home. Some of it goes right over my head though, maths is not my strongest subject x

  4. It’s a pity the show wasn’t great, but I agree, sometimes the company makes it. I would fall asleep, if I sat in a reclining seat lol x

  5. Sorry the show wasn’t the best, but it’s a night out and free tickets 🙂 I know all about never ending lists! Have a good week

  6. That’s a lot of ‘out’ I think I’d need a week to recover as well. I hope the wedding was nice, and you are happy with your hair. But sorry the theatre wasn’t as good as you’d hoped. I’ve been to see a Peter James play, Dead Simple, which was more of a detective story and it was really good.
Thanks for linking up to #wotw xx

  7. Sounds like a busy week, but an enjoyable one too. I quite like parties at soft play when you can sit and relax with a coffee while watching the kids. Glad you enjoyed your night out even if the show wasn’t the best. The maths workshop sounds interesting. Hope you had a lovely weekend at your cousin’s wedding and managed to get some time to relax as well! 🙂 #WotW

  8. Sound like a lovely week. I am just a recent coffee drinker on advice from the doctor x #wotw
