Five Frugal Things I’ve Done This Week {6.8.21}

Every Friday I share five frugal things that I’ve done to save or make money. I believe that a frugal lifestyle is an individual thing and there is no right or wrong way of going about it. From the smallest of savings to the greatest it all adds up and contributes to us living the life that we want for less.

Five Frugal Things

  1. A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I wanted to try and save money on my groceries by looking for free food. I hit the jackpot this week when I spotted all this tinned food on a local buy nothing group. I have been checking the Olio app but the listings have been appearing quite late at night this week so I’ve missed them.

One of my neighbours gave me some packets of treats for Indie and a family member gave us some fresh eggs from their chickens.

2. My daughter had some leggings that she really loved but had developed holes in the knees. Instead of putting them in the recycling bag, I have turned them into shorts for her. They are not perfect by any means but are great for playing out in or wearing for bed.

3. I mentioned previously that I’m trying out new offers or apps that will save or make me money. This week I signed up for a free recipe kit from Simply Cook using someone’s referral link. There were lots of nice flavours to choose from on the website. It is a subscription service so I will need to remember to cancel if I don’t want to continue with it.

4.  We popped into the library this week to sign the kids up for their free reading challenge. The kids borrowed some books while we were there and got a free bookmark each.

5. I visited my favourite charity shop this week and found some bargains. Books are always 3 for £1 which I think is brilliant. I found some Beast Quest books for my son and a few titles I wanted to read. For my daughter, I found some leggings and a top that was like new, the whole outfit cost me just £1.75.
