Word Of The Week-Celebrate

My word of the week is celebrate, the end of November is a busy month for birthdays in our house. As well as celebrating birthdays I’m also celebrating our cat Mo, who is doing a bit better now he’s on medication.

I turned 47 last Sunday, I’m not sure how I got to this age so quickly but every year of life is a cause to celebrate. I treated myself to a morning of visiting my favourite charity shops. There weren’t as many bargains as usual but I did pick up a brand new (with tags) dressing gown/hoodie type thing for Jake for £5.50. I also found a few more cute little Christmas trinkets and vintage books to add to my collection.

I got some lovely presents and ate some delicious pastries for breakfast. The cat has been waking me early this week for a fuss and I haven’t been able to drop back off again. He woke me extra early at 4 am on my birthday so a long nap was definitely needed later on.

In the evening my eldest daughter, her fiance and my grandson came to celebrate my birthday. We had a lovely meal and some black forest gateaux for afterwards, that’s my cake of choice every single year.

The day after my birthday it was time to celebrate my eldest daughter Jess turning 27. I love that our birthdays are so close to each other. Although being in labour on my birthday wasn’t much fun at the time.

I’m celebrating some good blood test results for myself too. After months of working hard on my health, I have reduced my HBA1C (diabetes) and my cholesterol levels.

The rest of the week has been pretty nice too. I’ve had some frosty morning walks with the dog and I won two really nice prizes. A children’s author visited Jake’s school which he said was fun, he bought a signed copy of the book too. Daisy has had a good week at high school, she’s counting down the days until her 13th birthday in December.

Have you had anything to celebrate this week?

  1. Aww! Happy birthday to you all!
I am glad the medication is helping Mo!
What a great way to celebrate your birthday, the charity shopping sounds like fun. The black forest gateaux looks so good! I never get it unless we’re eating out as the rest of my family are not keen on it. Hmmf.
That’s great news about the blood tests! x

  2. Happy belated birthday to you and your daughter. Sounds like you had a fab one and yes, each one is cause for celebrations. Well done on reducing your blood sugar levels and your cholesterol levels. Wishing you many more years of health, wealth and happiness.

  3. Happy belated birthday. What a lovely collection of items from the charity shops. I didn’t realise that Ladybird books were also available in French. Lovely selection of presents too. Black Forest gateau is a great choice for a birthday cake. Happy belated birthday to your eldest daughter too and glad that it was a nice week all round. #WotW
