Week 26 of Project 365 has been all about taking things at a slower pace. I was really in need of some rest and quiet time, and that’s what I got for the most part.

Sunday brought with it much cooler weather and lots of rain. The garden got a good soaking, which it really needed.
I spent the morning decluttering slowly. I put four donation boxes in the hall, and by the afternoon, they were full. The rest of the day I did the usual Sunday jobs like meal planning, getting uniforms ready for the kids and checking my planner for any upcoming events.

Monday was the start of my rest and restore week. I decided to make absolutely no plans for this week and just do whatever I felt like doing.
I made a start on the creepy doll jigsaw that I picked up at a charity shop a couple of weeks ago. Jigsaws are my go-to when I’m starting to feel burned out. I find the whole process incredibly relaxing.

I’m still in somewhat of a reading slump, but that doesn’t stop me from picking up some more books from the charity shop. Once again, I’ve picked up a copy of a book I already have, not to worry, though I’ve put it straight back into the donation box.
Tuesday was another slow day of relaxing and slow pottering. It was also my twelfth-year blogging anniversary, which I marked with a giveaway.

The muggy weather seems to be making a return after a few days of respite. Daisy spent some time in the garden tormenting Indie with a Super Soaker that I recently won in a competition.

One of my favourite things to do in the morning is to check on all of the plants in the garden. I bought this chilli plant for Chris, and this is the fourth big chilli that we’ve been able to pick. It does need replanting; it’s on the to-do list. One of the mint plants needs some TLC too, I think it’s become waterlogged, but hopefully it can be rescued.

It was an early start for us on Friday morning as we were going to Alton Towers for the day. The kids had an inset day, so we took the opportunity to use some tickets that I won last year.
This is the only time we were smiling that day; we did not have the fun experience we had planned. I’m not going to moan about the day on here, but what I will say is that overcrowded and overpriced experiences are not the ones for us. We did get this lovely photo of us altogether, thanks to a kind stranger, so all was not lost.

I felt quite broken on Saturday morning, unfortunately, that’s the price I pay the next day when we’ve had a day out. Having multiple chronic illnesses really sucks but I do the best I can.
I was happy to see that the beans are popping off in the garden. Isn’t it amazing how quickly things grow!

It sounds like you have had a lovely, relaxed week! Your garden looks great, the rain was so welcomed here too! Well done with the chilli plant!
At least you have some extra books to read when you get your reading mojo back.
What a lovely photo of you all. Such a shame that you didn’t have a great day.
That’s a shame about Alton Towers. It seems like a lot of people had inset days on Friday. We had a similar issues years ago with Legoland – we thought we’d avoided school holidays, but an inset day was on, and it was hell. Plus the park hadn’t realised so there was very little food places open, and those that did ran out early
Oh I love puzzles too for relaxing. I haven’t put one together in a little while but I have one on my shelf I’m thinking of starting for the long weekend here in the states.
It’s good to have a slower week sometimes. Glad you’ve been able to have some rest and quiet time. Daisy looks like she was having fun with the Super Soaker. What a shame that your day out at Alton Towers wasn’t the fun day out you were hoping for. Hope you’ve had some time to rest and recover. #project365
I haven’t done a jigsaw puzzles in a few years. Your photo makes me want to get a new one. Your garden looks great too.
It’s good to plan a restful time for yourself. Puzzles are fab for relaxing.
Sorry to hear that the day at Alton Towers was disappointing. I try to avoid big crowds, as they stress me out. At least you have a lovely family photo.
Your chilli looks tasty.
Happy blogversary!
