Our #WalkWithWynsors at Brockholes

On Saturday Wynsors World of Shoes invited us to a beautiful nature reserve called Brockholes to enjoy a family walk and some lunch as part of their #WalkWithWynsors outdoor event which encourages families to get outside and enjoy weekend adventures as a family. They also sent Daisy and Jake a pair of adorable Bogs wellies each too especially for the walk.

Bogs wellies are perfect for Autumn and Winter and can be bought online from the Wynsors website.img_2212 img_2236 img_2238Despite Brockholes only being a 40 minute drive away we had never visited but I had heard some wonderful things about it. Brockholes is owned and managed by the Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside, the trust has used their expertise to provide habitats for lots of different wildlife. There are 250 acres of reserve for you to explore which includes trails, lakes, woods and hides not to mention the beautiful views overlooking the River Ribble.

We arrived to a warm welcome from Chloe from Wynsors and Deb who works for the Lancashire Wildlife Trust.

Shortly after arriving Terry, one of the wonderful Brockholes volunteers led us on a guided tour around some of the reserve, we took the Meadow trail and walked along the River Ribble where the views were just breathtaking. Next we headed down the Ribble way footpath to the adventure playground which is absolutely fantastic with lots of things for the children to explore. The whole walk took about 40 minutes which was ideal for smaller legs to tackle, we did have Jake in the buggy which despite it being a bumpy ride was more than manageable.img_2246 img_2243 img_2256

img_2259Brockholes also has an award winning and eco-friendly conference venue situated on their floating visitor village (it really is floating!) where we were treated to the most delicious lunch of a hot and cold buffet, we will definitely be stopping by the Lakeside Reed Bed restaurant next time we visit to indulge some more.

Brockholes is situated just off junction 31 of the M6 near Preston and despite is being so close to the motorway it’s really peaceful. Along side the nature trails there’s lots to explore at the floating visitor village like the welcome centre, restaurant and gift shop. The reserve is free to visit but there is a charge for parking the cost of which helps towards the day to day running and maintaining of Brockholes which is more than fair.

  1. Looks gorgeous! The wellies are cute too. It’s so good to get outdoors and explore with kids. I went to uni in Lancaster so I know how beautiful that part of the country is .. and how wet!! I think wellies were my first purchase after moving there, haha. #FamilyFun

  2. Wow that looks so cool, I have never heard of it and sad it is a little too far from us but I would certainly love to see the floating village. Those wellies look fab too, I am on the look out for some comfy ones that my daughter will actually keep on her feet! Thanks for sharing with us at #FamilyFun xx

  3. Ahh fab day out! Agree that the park looks amazing. My 15 month old though was just obsessed with the slide and wouldn’t leave that area!! I liked the look of the den building wood too. Would love to go back one day!! I love my bogs! Thanks for linking up to #familyfun
