The first week of the summer holidays certainly hasn’t gone the way I planned that’s for sure. On Sunday evening after stripping the living room wallpaper we realised it wasn’t going to be the simple job we imagined. I naively thought it would take Chris a weekend to complete. Little did I know the scale of mess it would actually create.
I definitely didn’t plan for the fact that the living room wouldn’t be fully functional for a week. On a usual week this would have been no problem. Throw in torrential rain and all of us coming down with a virus and it’s a recipe for disaster. Poor Chris has been coming in from work feeling lousy and getting straight on with it so it doesn’t drag on too long.
There has been extra dust, crumbling plaster, paint fumes and disorganisation galore. The level of mess for a clean freak like me has been a nightmare. Just for good measure I decided now would be the perfect time for an extreme declutter. We now have bags and boxes awaiting re-homing cluttering up the hallway.
I’m so looking forward to next week when we can finally sort out the mess. I’m hoping we all feel better too or next weeks word will be cabin fever !
