Life has been so busy lately, there’s always some chore or an errand that we’ve needed to do on a Sunday, this has been the only day that my husband has not been working and it’s been taking its toll on our family time so we decided that this had to change.
MrFrugalW and I are always looking for ways to make the most of the time we do have together as a family, so we had a chat and decided that Sundays were to be solely for family time, no work, whether that be earning, cleaning, or maintaining our home.
Yesterday was a beautiful day weather-wise so I resisted the temptation of an indoor car boot sale, kept my money in my purse, and instead we went for a walk to the local park.
Daisy is learning about forests at school and as there is a small one next to the park so we looked for some objects she could take into class to show the other children.
We spotted lots of Squirrels, a Robin and even a Dragonfly, we found lots of leaves and acorns and afterwards had a play on the park. The best things in life really are free, spending time together even if it’s a small amount of time is priceless.
I want my children to learn that they don’t need to spend money to be entertained, I want them to appreciate the simple things because they are growing up in a much faster-paced world than you or I did.
I want them to know that happiness does not come in shiny new packaging but from experiences and spending time with those you love.
Did you spend time with your family this weekend? Do you have any great frugal fun ideas? leave me a comment below I love hearing from you.
