Five Frugal Things I’ve Done This Week {19.11.21}

Every Friday I share five frugal things that I’ve done to save or make money. I believe that a frugal lifestyle is an individual thing and there is no right or wrong way of going about it. From the smallest of savings to the greatest it all adds up and contributes to us living the life that we want for less.

Five Frugal Things

  1. I mentioned last week that I was going to change my grocery shopping from weekly to every 3-4 days and I’m happy to report that it’s working really well. There has been absolutely no food waste this week at all and I’m finding meal planning much more manageable too. I thought it might lead to me spending more money by actually it’s the opposite because along with picking up reductions I’m also not picking up any extras. So far so good.

2. Our local Spar has recently started doing the Too Good To Go Bags so I thought we would try one. The idea behind Too Good To Go is that you buy a bag of products that would otherwise be wasted for a heavily reduced price. You don’t know what you are getting until you collect. The bag we got was okay but I would have liked more vegetables in it I think. I will give it another go though as £3.09 is a pretty good price.

3. It’s been a good week for completing surveys and making some extra money. I’m currently taking part in an online diary as part of a focus group that I will get paid for. I really enjoy sharing my opinion so I always find surveys and focus groups really interesting. Any extra money I make at the moment is going towards food for Christmas, it will be nice to have some extra treats this year.

4. Even though I am now in my forties there’s still a lot about finances that I don’t understand. Lately, I’ve found myself wanting to learn about these things even more, especially with the impact that Covid has and continues to have on the world economy. I’ve been searching out YouTube videos on the topic and also looking into any free courses I could take to expand my knowledge. I do see this as being frugal because the more I understand the better my financial choices and decisions will be.

5. I’ve won a couple of nice prizes this week including a pair of cinema tickets and £25 PayPal credit. I also had a lovely pillow spray arrive in the post which I’m hoping will help me to sleep a little better. I also took advantage of an offer on Shopmium this week and got a jar of coffee for half price.
