Five Frugal Things I’ve Done This Week {5.11.21}

Every Friday I share five frugal things that I’ve done to save or make money. I believe that a frugal lifestyle is an individual thing and there is no right or wrong way of going about it. From the smallest of savings to the greatest it all adds up and contributes to us living the life that we want for less.

Five Frugal Things

  1. We celebrated Halloween in a very frugal way using what we already had. Last year I bought the kids costumes in the sale and made sure they were a size bigger to guarantee they would fit them.  After last years Halloween party I saved all the unused paper plates, cups and napkins so I didn’t have to purchase those again this year either. Keeping the food really simple meant I didn’t overspend either, I served hot dogs and pizza and pumpkin pie.

2. Although we have finally had to admit defeat and switch the heating on I have been making sure none of it goes to waste. I’m making sure the thermostat is set to just the temperature that we need and have been closing all the doors to keep the heat inside.

3. I have had some lovely freebies and prizes arrive this week, some of which will make lovely gifts. I spotted the Guinness freebie on my O2 Priority app a couple of weeks ago, they were running a promotion for the rugby.

The Wine and delicious food came from a competition on Facebook, I’ve already made a start on the cheese.

4. I am a huge fan of the tv show Dexter and have been excitedly awaiting the arrival of the new series. I was a little disappointed when I spotted it would only be available on Sky Atlantic which isn’t a channel we have. Luckily I found a special offers section on my Now TV account and have been able to get the service half price for the next three months meaning that I will be able to watch it all.

5. We had a lovely free day out at a pumpkin festival thanks to winning a family ticket. The kids got an extra pumpkin each to carve, rode on a tractor and got to pet some small animals. Free days out are just the best.
