5 Things I Love About Autumn

Autumn is my favourite season and I don’t think I’m alone in feeling that way. My Instagram and TikTok feeds have been full of beautiful autumn pictures and reels for months now. Lately, I’ve been thinking about the reasons why I love it so much and prefer it over the other seasons. Here’s my list of 5 things I love about Autumn.

Nature

The colours of nature this time of year are simply stunning. The rich shades of browns, oranges and reds of the leaves and the brilliant sunsets are all incredible. Then there’s the conkers to collect, the blackberries to pick and the mushrooms to admire.

I love taking photos this time of year. There’s just something about the setting sun shining through the trees that makes everything look extra magical. Crunching through the fallen leaves is an absolute must no matter what your age.

There’s also that crisp autumn smell first thing in the morning, I wish you could bottle that scent.

Cosy Vibes

When it starts to get darker earlier there’s nothing better than arriving back to a warm, welcoming and cosy home. I love an evening on the sofa with blankets, a warm drink and a good book or TV show. Comfort is the vibe we all want this time of year.

I love scented candles, and the cosy nights are perfect for some of my favourite scents. My house always smells amazing thanks to cinnamon, vanilla, orange, spices and clove-scented candles.

Wearing my favourite cosy comfy clothes is another thing I love about autumn. With the evenings getting earlier it’s a great excuse for pyjamas as soon as you get home.

Comfort Food

At our house autumn means that the slow cooker comes out of hibernation. Evening meals are real comfort foods like casseroles and stews with crusty bread, hearty soups, hot pots and pies. I love making crumbles using the apples and blackberries I have picked, it’s a yearly tradition.

The shops start selling some real seasonal treats like pumpkin spice lattes, maple hot chocolates and delicious warming pastries. Sadly I have to make my own pumpkin pie as it’s impossible to find in the UK.

Halloween

Halloween falls in autumn and I love it, in fact, I think it’s better than Christmas. I’ve always been a fan of the spooky, creepy and thrilling things in life. It’s a great excuse to reminisce about childhood trick or treating, get dressed up in a scary costume and watch horror movies. My kids have inherited my love for Halloween so I go all out and make sure we celebrate to the max.

My Birthday

It’s my birthday in November and I love that I get to celebrate it in my favourite season of the year. Autumn makes me think of new beginnings and that’s what a birthday symbolises to me too. A chance for another year of life that you get to experience, a new chapter.

What is your favourite thing about autumn? Leave me a comment I love to read them.
