Week 24 of Project 365 has finally been the one where I totally forgot to take a photo every day. As a recovering perfectionist, this is a real challenge for me! It was only one day, and it was bound to happen. I’m just glad I made it to month six before I forgot.
This week has been an okay week with some frustrating waiting for various things. It has, however, ended in the most lovely way, with a gorgeous overnight stay in Manchester. We also had time together as a family.

On Sunday, I employed this happy little person to look after the lavender. It wouldn’t be my garden if I didn’t fill it up with quirky ornaments and trinkets.
Our grandson, Olly, went home after staying for the weekend. He, Jake and Daisy had a great time together. They went to the park a few times, played games and rented A Minecraft Movie to watch for the second time. The afternoon was spent getting the usual chores done for back to school and work on Monday.

There are several cherry trees on one of the walking routes Indie and I sometimes take, and they are absolutely bursting with cherries at the moment. They were very green still, but I’ve no doubts that by the weekend they will be ripe and stripped bare by the birds.

On Tuesday evening, Jake and I packed his case ready for the residential he’s going on in Wales. He’s been so excited to go and did a really good job of choosing exactly what he needed to take.
Chris came home with an ear infection today. He’s very rarely poorly, but this year seems to be his turn to suffer poor health instead of me. He has got some antibiotic ear spray from the doctor.

Poor Chris was even worse with his ear on Wednesday morning, so he took himself off to a walk-in treatment centre after we dropped Jake off for his school trip. He was seen and prescribed some oral antibiotics within an hour. The spray he was given yesterday couldn’t get past the swelling to the actual infection.
I spotted these flowers in the photo above, down the side of the garden path. While I was pulling the bins out for tomorrow’s collection, I noticed them. They could be chamomile or feverfew, but I really can’t tell.

I had a chance on Thursday morning to pop into some different charity shops to look for treasures. I wanted to add them to my collections. If I’m honest, although I did buy some nice things, I got buyer’s remorse afterwards. The shops were much more expensive, and I paid more for some items than usual. Additionally, I bought a jigsaw I already had; it was bound to happen at some point, I suppose.
A few frustrating things happened today, so I switched off early and gave myself permission to deal with all another day.

Friday looks so bare with no photo! I spent the whole day cleaning and sorting the house. Every spare ounce of energy I had went into housework. Sometimes, when I’ve had a week of frustrations and things have happened that are out of my control to fix, I turn to cleaning. There’s something about putting the house back in order. It makes my brain feel so much better and more prepared to tackle the things that require mental energy.

I have about a million photos that I could have used for today, but I chose this delicious dish that I ate at Lock 84 on Saturday evening. It was Pulled Pork and Black Pudding Bon Bons, I could have eaten a whole plate of them! We spent the night at a gorgeous hotel in Manchester called The Reach, thanks to a prize I won on Instagram last month.
We travelled by train, first class no less, and visited the Science and Industry museum, had two luxurious rooms, ate an amazing meal in the restaurant, and just thoroughly enjoyed spending some quality time together.
I will be writing about our hotel stay and Manchester adventure next week at some point.

Ooh the prize trip sounds lovely. Makes up for earlier in the week not being the best. I have to write down all the puzzles I have, because I’ve bought several duplicates before. And books. Now I stick with Kindle for those, because then I can easily check
Don’t let a missed photo put you off. I missed a whole week of photos last year. lol
I am so glad you got to have your night away in Manchester!
My dad has a cherry tree and his look the same at the moment, he is determined to get to them before the birds when they are ripe,
Oh no, poor Chris! I hope he is feeling better now. x
I love your rainbow heart gnome! I have lots of fun garden decorations too; though some of them are getting quite old and faded and probably need to be replaced soon.
I love your little gnome looking after the lavender. Lovely to see the cherries on the trees – they never last long with the birds though! Hope that Jake enjoyed his residential and that Chris is feeling better now. Ear infections are horrible things. The trip to Manchester and hotel stay sounds amazing – what a lovely prize to win. #project365
Feverfew looks more like a daisy in the lawn, so I think these might be camomile. Oh dear with the charity shop haul this week. I tend to duplicate books, think I’ve probably bought books back that I’ve donated at some point. Love the garden gnomes and I hope Jake had a good time on his trip.
What a cute little gnome to look after your lavender!
I don’t always do a photo a day, in fact, some days I take loads, and some forget.
The charity shop haul looks good, sorry, you got the puzzle you have in your collection already (happens to me with books).
Hope Chris’s ear infection has cleared out.
I thought it was a dessert, before reading it was pork bon bons. 🙂
