Word Of The Week – Dates

I love being organised, in fact, I thrive on it I have a huge diary and lots of accompanying notebooks all of which I would be totally lost without. I’ve needed them more than ever this week with all the dates I’ve had to note down and remember. Back to school has brought with it a flurry of paperwork, events, and invites and that’s on top of the usual work/life stuff too.

There are after school clubs, swimming lessons, birthday invites, class invites and sports day (yes you read that right, huge eye roll). Every evening has seen me sat down with my diary carefully jotting everything down so nothing gets missed.

I’ve also had to change around a few dates for appointments I had just to add to the confusion. The one date I don’t yet have is one for an appointment with a consultant about my recent ulcerative colitis diagnosis, I’m still in limbo wondering when or if anyone is actually going to contact me. I think I’m going to give it another fortnight before I make an appointment with my GP to find out where I go from here. What’re a few more weeks of extreme fatigue hey?

In more exciting news about dates, Jake has one at the opticians on Saturday to pick up his new specs. He’s really excited to collect them as he chose some with his favourite character on, Bumblebee from Transformers. I’m hoping the novelty doesn’t wear off when the reality of having to wear them all the time sets in.

I’ve been scheduling some time for family dates too, our weekends have been overtaken with work just lately which means we haven’t been out anywhere fun or exciting in a really long time. I’m hoping to remedy that by committing our plans to my diary, if it’s written in ink then it’s happening!

What dates are in your diary?

I’m linking up with Anne from Raisie Bay for Word of the Week.

  1. ohhh so many people are in planning mode this week. My diary is starting to fill up for the next few months too. I’m also waiting for a consultant appointment. In my experience it’s always better to get in touch because you can slip through the net so easily. Good luck! I hope Jake likes his new glasses, my little man picks his up tomorrow too and I’m still waiting for mine. Thanks for linking up to #wotw

  2. Writing it down in ink is a really good idea. It does make it happen. Now you’ve written that, I realise I’ve been doing just that this term. Maybe your good influence is rubbing off on me! Jake’s glasses sound fantastic. My boy used to love the Transformer films. Not easy when you have older sisters who sit through it, pointing out all the negatives in it. Hope you hear about your appointment soon. #wotw

  3. There is so much to remember at this time of year. I’ve been using my diary a lot too.
I hope you get your appointment through soon. You should give them a ring. It won’t hurt to chase it up.
We have heart check ups, doctors appointments and a meeting with the SENDco woman at school about my youngest next week. It’s going to be busy x

  4. Oh no I am so sorry ulcerative colitis sounds tough I hope that they can give you the correct adivice and medication to get it sorted. And I know what you mean about scheduling in family time it need booking in so times to are sure it happens. Ah bless Jake, he will look so cool in his new glasses x

  5. Oh my goodness, yes, I can relate to having to sit down with the diary and put in all those dates at the start of the term! We have the date for sports day already too. I guess it does help you get organised but it feels like a lot to keep track of. Sorry to hear about you being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and that you’re in limbo at the moment with appointments. Hope you hear back soon without having to chase x #WotW
