Word Of The Week – Gentle

The word gentle is a perfect way to describe how we are easing into the new year, in fact, the whole of the Christmas break has been rather relaxed. I was determined that Christmas wouldn’t be stressful for me this year and I finally let go of lots of the usual expectations I have about the season. I can honestly say it’s been one of the best Christmases I’ve ever had the kids were happy we were happy and that’s what it’s all about in my opinion.

It’s so nice to be back writing a word of the week post, I took a long break after summer but I have missed linking up with Anne at Raisie Bay, catching up with all the regular posters and sharing a summary of our week. This year is all about memory making and keeping for me and less about worrying about fitting into a niche or thinking about which direction I should be going in. It will definitely be a year where I learn to be more gentle with myself and my choices.

Anyway here’s what we got up to this week.

Frozen II

We finally went to watch Frozen II at the new Cineworld cinema in our town, I did want to go when it first came out but the ticket prices were ridiculous. The new cinema is stunning and huge with lovely sparkly floors and really comfortable seating, the family ticket cost £23 when I booked online which I am quite happy to pay.

The movie itself was just wonderful, I loved it just as much as the first and have been listening to the soundtrack since we got home. It’s such a lovely family film and one we could happily watch again and again.

While I was at the cinema I entered a competition to win one of Cineworld’s Unlimited cards valid for a year, I have my fingers crossed so tightly for that prize.

New Years Eve

We had no big plans for New Year’s eve, we ate up some of the buffet food we had leftover from Christmas then watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire until the clock struck midnight. There were plenty of fireworks for us to enjoy from the window before we finally got into bed.

I also spent some time during the day writing a round-up post of all the adventures we had in 2019 which was lots of fun to write.

New Years Day

After a lovely gentle start to the day enjoying bacon butties and a bit of a tidy up, we went out to the park. It was such a beautiful bright day and not really cold at all. In the afternoon I went for a snooze, I’m certainly not cut out for late nights anymore.

Family

On Thursday my brother and his two little ones came round to have lunch with us and play. I love seeing the kids all playing together. I don’t have a huge family so the ones I do have are really important to me. In the afternoon I spoke to Daisy about internet safety as she has just started playing Roblox, there’s a really good website that my cousin recommended called https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/ where kids from the age of 4 can learn all about staying safe online in a way that’s understandable for them.

All in all, it’s been a pretty good week, here’s to a happy, healthy and successful 2020.

I still haven’t seen Frozen 2! My teen has and said it’s brilliant. I think we’re just going to wait until it comes onto Sky TV to watch again. Good luck with the competition. Cinema tickets are so expensive.
