Word Of The Week – Good

The word good pretty much sums up this week perfectly. The kids have gone back to school which has given me plenty of time to sit at my desk and work. Routines are back in place and all is good with the world.

A few good things have happened this week so I thought I would share those with you.

Jake went on a school trip to Imagine That in Liverpool where he got to make bath bombs and slime. He had a brilliant time as did I who had the whole day to myself. It gave me a taste of what life will be like in September when he goes to school full-time. I will miss his company of course but I can’t wait to have the extra hours to work, read and maybe have a nap !

Chris’s dad very kindly gave us a car meaning not only would we save money on road tax and insurance but we could also sell our old one. Luckily it sold quickly and we have paid a nice chunk of money off next years holiday. I will definitely miss our ‘Val’ but it made financial sense to accept the other car who we have named Nigel.

On Thursday all my kids were under the same roof at the same time which is a rarity. Scott is back from university for the summer so I invited him for tea. Jess and my grandson Olly were also due to come for tea so I asked them all to come at once. I made a big pan of spaghetti Bolognese and plenty of garlic bread for us all to enjoy. I’m glad I don’t have to cook for seven every day. Having kids with such big age gaps is certainly a challenge but it’s good fun too.

All in all it’s been a good week, the weekend is just ahead and I’m feeling positive.

You might enjoy my previous word of the week post, Holiday.

  1. It does sound like a really good week. Lots going on, and it’s always nice to get back into routines and be productive. Great news about the car and it must have been so lovely having all of your family together x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

  2. Lots of lovely good thing this week 🙂 My car is called Bernard, isn’t it funny how we can assign gender as well as give our cars a name. I wish my older kids would move out, then I wouldn’t have to cook for 7 every day!!
I’m glad Jake enjoyed his day out, it sounds lots of fun. x

  3. Sounds like a wonderful week. How lovely that you have been given a new car. What a generous thing to do.
Cooking for 7 is tricky. I have to cook for 6 everyday and sometimes more when friends are over. Big age gaps can be challenging cant they but at least there is never a dull moment! #wotw

  4. It really has been a good week for you!
Ahh! Those hours when the kids are at school are just amazing. I do sometimes find myself getting a little bored without them though.
That is great news about the car and lovely that you had all your children under one roof….

  5. How lovely to have everyone together. Quite a crowd. Good decision on the car. Hope Nigel works out well for you. September is going to be a bit of a shock, but hopefully a good one. Bath bombs and slime sounds like a good outing. Hope next week is just as good. #wotw

  6. Ah I bet getting the family all back together was so lovely I bet its chaos but amazing. You wont know what to do with yourself at first in September, I think I will feel like that when Joe goes back to school. And great news about the car what a lovely thing to do x

  7. I can imagine it was lovely to have everybody over for the day, but no doubt not a peaceful day. What a lovely thing for Chris’ Dad to do, and glad your car sold quickly. In September, definitely time for more coffee meet ups x
