This week the kids have been poorly with covid, they have both had horrible coughs and congestion. This is the fourth time Jake has had it this year but thankfully the symptoms haven’t been as bad for him this time. Neither of them has had the usual horrible head and body aches they usually get with it.
I am concerned at how many times Jake has caught covid this year so I’ve made a GP appointment just to check there isn’t something underlying going on.
Chris and I have so far avoided catching it, fingers crossed it’s passed us by. Having chronic illnesses makes me even more nervous about catching viruses as it can take me twice as long to recover from them.
The kids have missed some school days and that’s always a worry with the silly absence policies they have in place at the moment. Phoning in makes me nervous it’s like when you have to call in sick to work. They are both back at school now but I will be glad when they break up for Christmas. This term has felt very long and getting them up on these dark cold mornings hasn’t been fun at all.
It’s not all been doom and gloom this week though, we’ve all had plenty of time to slow down and rest. I’ve been enjoying reading and watching some new comedy shows on iPlayer. There’s one called Smoggie Queens that’s really funny, and I’m just about to start one with Greg Davies called The Cleaner. I usually like to watch thrillers, dramas and documentaries but I always fancy a change this time of year.
I think this weekend will be a restful and quiet one for us, the next couple of weeks are going to be busy. The diary is full of Christmas-themed school activities and appointments for various things.
If you have any comedy shows to recommend then do let me know in the comments.
Oh no! I hope the kids are feeling better soon. That sounds like the same type of cold that I had, it was a weird one but I kept testing negative for Covid. I hope it isn’t passed to you and Chris.
Ohh! I will have to give Smoggie Queens a watch. I used to live not far from Middlesbrough. x
Oh poor kids, Covid really isn’t nice, even for the kids. I think it’s a good idea going to GP to check nothing else is going on. My boy has had two chest infections in the last few months, so I’m keeping an eye on him. I have to have Sotrovimab when I get Covid so I’m hoping I don’t get it again.
Oh, I’m one for comedy too, but sorry I don’t have a recommendation I can think of at the moment. I will check out yours though. I love a good laugh. I hope the kids have totally got over the Covid by now. I am counting my lucky stars and hoping that I never get that thing! All the best for nice cosy days during the festive season.
