Word Of The Week – Time

I usually have a good idea about what my word for the week will be by Wednesday. This week I’m writing on the fly, nothing much has happened so I’m writing about something I’ve been thinking lots about instead, time.

Time seems to be going faster this year than it ever has before, I know it’s not physically possible but it really does seem that way. Looking at my calendar it’s hard to believe we are almost halfway through the year already. It feels like yesterday we were welcoming in the new year!

I’m wondering if it’s an age thing, that time somehow goes faster the older you get. Maybe it’s just modern living, everything is available with the touch of a button or the swipe of a finger. I don’t know about you but I can lose so much time just endlessly scrolling through social media. Is that where time is going? Is it because the world seems like a faster place to live in these days?

I also think time seems to go faster when you have kids, they seem to grow up too quickly before your eyes even. School plays a big part in this I think, the terms seem to all blend into one and before you know it, it’s the summer holidays.

We booked our holiday a year ago and now it’s almost time to go, I think that’s what got me deep thinking about all this time nonsense. I’ve been so busy lately so I’m more than ready to slow down and relax for a while. I’m planning to stretch the days out for as long as possible, make the most of every minute and enjoy spending lots of time together as a family.

I’m linking up with Anne from Raisie Bay for Word of the Week.

  1. I’m with you that time certainly seems to be going by more quickly. I think having children at school contributes to that though – each half-term seems to whizz by and this last one especially (although it is a short one). Hope you have a wonderful holiday and hope that time slows down a little for you so you can really enjoy it while you are away. #WotW

  2. It does seem to get faster. Time seemed much slower as a child. I reckon it’s a combination of the school holidays splitting up the year and marking time turning, along with trying to squeeze so much more in. I wonder if it will slow again. Hope time slows a bit for your holiday. #wotw

  3. It is hard to write a #WotW post when nothing much has happened over the past week.
This year is flying over but it’s because we have a lot going on. Moving house, my teen sitting her GCSEs and some other stuff.
Yes! Time does go so quickly when we have kids and they do grow up so quickly!

  4. Yep I feel you though there are times when time goes slow like waiting for my son to get of the toilet haha. I bet your looking forward to your holiday always good to have something to get excited about X #wotw

  5. omg I totally get this ! I cant believe how time is flying the boys seems to have grown up overnight. And you are right Christmas seems like only yesterday, I bet you cant wait for your holiday x

  6. Maybe it is an age thing, because this year seems to be flying by. I can’t believe we are almost half way through already x

  7. I wrote something similar on Instagram – where has the year gone! I agree with the school – we count by end of terms now which makes it go so fast!!! #wotw

  8. I had a very similar conversation with my husband the other day. No longer have we said goodbye to the weekend, it’s Friday again. The weeks seem to be flying by, and I also feel like Christmas was about a month ago. I hope you are having a wonderful time on your holiday, and I remember you telling me when you had booked it. That was surely only a few months ago and not a whole year!! x
