Word Of The Week – Fresh

I think fresh is the perfect word for the first week of the new year. There have been fresh starts, food, and very fresh weather. I’m well aware that you can set new goals or resolutions at any point in the year but there’s something extra special about doing it at the start of a new year.

I started to declutter and deep clean in the run-up to the new year. All the new toys and games needed a place to go and I love starting the new year off with a clutter-free home. We also sold some of the things we decluttered which have given our holiday savings a boost.

There will also be fresh new paint in the kid’s bedrooms which they are very excited about indeed.

I’ve been working on my monthly goals and also the big goals for 2018. Nothing like a new year for a new start. We have also been eating lots of fresh food in a bid to be healthier, something which is well overdue.

Fresh new pages have been written on in both my journals.

I couldn’t finish before mentioning the rather windy weather we have experienced this week. Storm Eleanor raged on Tuesday night and we woke to a fallen tree in our road. Luckily Chris managed to swerve his van around it to get to work the next morning. The school run was certainly interesting that morning too, we all held hands a little tighter that’s for sure!

You might enjoy my previous word of the week post, Plans.

  1. There is something ‘fresh’ about the new year, and it sounds like you’ve been embracing it and making the most of it. I’ve yet to get to goal planning, but I’ll get there soon! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

  2. I really is like a fresh New Year with the wind blowing away all the cobwebs. Fresh paint sounds like a good idea, I’m going to make a start on my bathroom when I’m back out of hospital.

  3. Not many cobwebs left with the strength of the wind we’ve had in the last few days. I had a hairy drive in the dark down wooded, country lanes, on my own last night. Hoping I’d spot fallen branches in time. Only one, so not too bad. I’m taking a leaf out of your book and planning this year. A work in progress, but I already feel more in control. Thank you for the inspiration. #wotw

  4. Fresh is a great word for the first week of the new year and it sounds like it fits perfectly with your week. Storm Eleanor was definitely ‘fresh’ also, but not the good kind! A lovely weekend to you all.

  5. I love a new, shinny book to get me going for the new year. You must have been busy with the painting of rooms. Have a fab weekend X #wotw

  6. It sounds like you have had a great start to the year. Decluttering really helps.
We start on the healthy eating next week. The kids are still off school and we had chocolate and treats left over from Christmas to eat. hehehe #WotW

  7. I know what you mean about the desire to declutter once all the Christmas decorations are down. We have a number of things the girls have outgrown and things not to our taste to move on. #WotW
