The colder months are made for snuggling up and enjoying a family movie together, we love choosing a festive film, grabbing a hot chocolate and some popcorn and settling down to watch under a cosy blanket. After the success of The Snow Queen and The Snow Queen2: The Snow King comes the third instalment in the Snow Queen series, The Snow Queen: Fire And Ice. The Snow Queen: Fire And Ice available on Digital and DVD on 11th November 2019 from Altitude is the perfect movie to enjoy together this festive season.

After heroically defeating both the Snow Queen and the Snow King, Gerda still cannot find peace. Her dream is to find her parents who were once taken away from them by the North Wind and finally reunite the family. So Gerda and her friends must embark on another exciting & frozen journey to find her parents and encounter new challenges along the way. A story of kindness, bravery and most of all…friendship.

The Snow Queen: Fire And Ice Movie Review

Daisy and Jake were really excited to sit down and watch The Snow Queen: Fire And Ice movie together, we have previously watched the other two Snow Queen movies and really enjoyed them. As a family, we really enjoy adventure movies with an element of fantasy to them and this movie ticks all those boxes for us.

In this story, we follow Gerda and her brother Kai who embark on another exciting but dangerous adventure with their new friend Rollan. Gerda and Kai argue and part ways leaving Gerda and Rollan to go on a quest to find a magical orb that fulfils wishes. Gerda hopes that the magical orb will bring her parents, who were taken by the North Wind, back to life again but when they find the orb it unleashes evil spirits.

The evil spirit of Ice enters Gerda’s body and the evil spirit of the Fire Demon enters Rollan’s body and if they cannot rid themselves of the spirits it will cause a global disaster.

We all really enjoyed the movie, I especially liked the animation and the landscapes were breathtaking. The kids loved that the movie was full of peril and suspense, they were cheering for Gerda and Rollan to defeat the evil spirits. The characters are lots of fun and there are some great villains which is something we all really love in an animation.

I won’t spoil the ending for you but I will say that there is a lovely heartwarming moral which will leave you feeling emotional.

Although the movie is the third in the series I would say that you don’t need to have watched its predecessors to enjoy it,  it works well as a stand-alone in my opinion.

What We Loved About The Snow Queen: Fire And Ice

  • The fun characters and evil villains
  • How good the animation is
  • The adventure, suspense, and peril
  • How nice and heartwarming the end of the movie is
