This weeks word is anticipation, there has been lots of waiting for things to happen and lots to look forward to. I’m not the most patient of people and nor are the kids. This week we’ve been able to practice our skills in patience with anticipation.
At the weekend we went to Dunham Massey to take part in an Easter trail, the kids loved following the map and solving the clues. They were anticipating the chocolate egg reward that awaited them at the end of the trail.
We also spent the weekend decorating eggs for a competition at school. Jake wanted to make Humpty Dumpty and Daisy wanted to make a unicorn. It took ages for the paint to dry on the eggs so the kids had to wait until the following day to finish decorating them. They were not very happy about waiting but an ice-cream and a bounce on the trampoline soon distracted them.
On Wednesday we had the anticipation of waiting to see who would win the egg competition. Much to Jake’s delight he came third in his class, he got a big bag of mini eggs. Although Daisy didn’t win she still got a small chocolate egg for taking part so she was happy enough. School finishes on Friday for just over a week and we are looking forward to the Easter holidays.
Another thing we’ve been anticipating is our holiday, we go at the end of next month. It will be the kids first time on a plane and they love talking about what it will be like. I’m more than ready for a lovely sunshine break with no washing up or cleaning to do for 10 days.
I’m linking up with Anne from Raisie Bay for Word of the Week.
You might enjoy my previous word of the week post, Spring .
Ahh! I have really missed my youngest decorating eggs for school this year. The secondary school does nothing fun like that. Jake’s Humpty Dumpty looks fab!
I hope you have a fab Easter break x
Thanks Kim, I will miss doing things like this once they go to high school x
I love Humpty Dumpty. A deserved win. Glad Daisy got something. I think the competition heats up as they move up the classes and more join in. I miss the Easter egg trails, but my lot have definitely grown too big. Although they still want an Easter egg hunt at home. Chocolate is chocolate after all. I love the idea of a holiday in the sun. Especially at this time of year. Lots of anticipation. Hope you have a good week. #wotw
Thanks Cheryl, I don’t blame yours still wanting an egg hunt, you are never too old for a chocolate egg x
ooh how lovely to have a sunny holiday to anticipate. I love Jakes humpty dumpty I can see why he won! I miss these things with my girls. My Little Man had a competition at his school but he refused to make anything. Enjoy your Easter break! x
Thanks Anne, I will miss doing things like this too when they are older x
Woohoo I bet you cant wait to take them on an aeroplane for the first time, its so exciting more for us parent I am sure. I love the eggs they are fab. I so miss all the easter crafts I used to be in my element when the boys were little . I must say the anticipation of all the work ahead is driving me mad I cant wait till its done x
I can’t wait to see how excited they are when the plane takes off, not sure what they will make of all the waiting around though x
One of my favorite emotions is anticipation! Congratulations to Jake for winning third in his class. That sounds like a very fun competition!
Thanks, both the kids loved the competition, the making is far more exciting than the winning though I think x
The Humpty Dumpty egg is cool! well done to Jake – a well deserved win 🙂
Thanks Karen, he had great fun making his Humpty Dumpty egg x
Mine are too old to want to be involved in Easter fun, they just want the eggs! Ooh, a holiday, have fun when it comes, I’d definitely be excited x
I will be sad once the kids are older and don’t want to take part x

I love a good Easter trail. A chocolate egg reward is always nice. Love Jake’s Humpty Dumpty egg – well done to him for coming third and well done to Daisy too for her efforts. I like the sound of a unicorn decorated egg. So lovely to be anticipating going on holiday too. #WotW
Thanks Louise, I love that there are so many Easter trails available to do locally x
