It’s the first Wednesday in March, which means it’s time to answer some Hodgepodge Wednesday questions. Thanks to Joyce at From This Side of the Pond for providing interesting questions to answer each week.
1. What do you love most about March?
This seems like such an obvious answer, but I love that March marks the start of spring. I have been lucky enough to spot some of the signs of the approaching season throughout February, but now March has arrived, and it feels official.
I really love the change in mood that March brings as well; people just seem to be brighter and happier. Maybe it’s because everyone has been hibernating during the winter, and they are genuinely happy to see other humans again.
2. Hey! Did you know March is National Celery Month? Do you like celery? What’s something you make (or like to order out) that calls for celery?
I absolutely detest celery and always have. Sometimes, I can tolerate it if it’s in a recipe or a soup as long as the other ingredients mask its taste.
3. _______________ is the soundtrack to my life right now.
I had to Google exactly what this saying means. I have heard it before, but I wanted to understand the actual meaning before I answered. Now that I understand it a little better, I’ve chosen three songs that sum up the soundtrack of my life right now. They represent gratitude and the better days ahead.
Lucky Stars by Lucy Spraggan
Dog Days Are Over by Florence & The Machine
The Only Way Is Up by Yazz
4. Share a favorite motivational quote for overcoming challenges.
5. The Hodgepodge lands on Ash Wednesday this year. Do you participate in Lent in some way? If so, tell us more.
I don’t participate in Lent, although the history of it is very interesting. Pancake Day falls on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, and I don’t mind tucking into a pancake or several.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
One of my big goals this year is to learn lots of new things, not about any topic in particular, but just anything that catches my attention. I’ve been really interested in learning more about the weather, especially the seasonal changes. I follow the Met Office on TikTok, and this week, I learned all about the diurnal range from them.
The diurnal temperature range is the difference between the highest and lowest temperatures in a 24-hour period. We are about to experience some variation this coming week, with some frosty starts to the morning and some glorious sunshine by the afternoon.
Good quote and so true! That is neat that you’re learning about weather and the temperature ranges per day. Agree with everything you said about question one!
Ahh! I have noticed a change in my mood too, it’s amazing how some sunshine makes me happy.
I love your song choices! I should have gone with Dog Days are Over too, better days are ahead!
Learning about the weather sounds interesting. x
I do think we see a change in mood this time of year. More sunshine, daylight, and the earth coming back to life all help. We have horrible pollen here in the spring and that makes it slightly less enjoyable than it should be. Typically more in April than March though. Enjoy your days!
Florida, while not as cold, does have that same swing. Tomorrow our low is 36 and the high is 68.
