When you decide to embark on a money-saving, frugal living or money-making journey you are full of motivation and enthusiasm, but keeping the momentum up can prove difficult. Finding out what works for you financially is so important.
Deciding to live this lifestyle can sometimes be tough, especially in the down times when nothing seems to be moving and you feel like you’ve exhausted every avenue. You can lose sight of your goals, and wasting all your hard work by spending can seem very tempting.
When you feel like this don’t give up, sit down with a notepad and pen and reassess. Here are my top tips for finding what works for you.
Be Honest
Is there something you are doing that isn’t working for you? do you resent those surveys that bring in only pennies? or are you fed up with cutting coupons for items you will probably never use? Write everything down that you do to save or make money and go through them one by one. Try to be honest with yourself is there something that is saving or making you a little money but is eating up a lot of time?
It helps to reassess every month and don’t be scared to simply stop doing something if it isn’t getting you any closer to your goals.
As a personal example, I’ve just recently joined a lot of new survey sites, some are paying really well others are just tedious. I’m giving them a month then I’m going to sit down with the figures and decide which ones are worth my time and which aren’t, it’s really as simple as that.
Work To Your Strengths
When it comes to living frugally or making some extra money you really have to do it within the boundaries of what you feel comfortable with. I do believe in trying new things and pushing my boundaries but also ultimately doing what’s right for me.
I think what I’m trying to say is there are no hard and fast rules. You are not in competition with anyone, you don’t need to be the most extreme money saver or the best at living frugally. Just do the best you can and find what fits for you and your family.
Let Others Inspire You
I love learning about what other people do to make a little extra money or what frugal money-saving ideas they are implementing in their lives.
I find so much inspiration and motivation from people who are trying to live the same lifestyle as I am.
