A couple of weeks ago an exciting invitation arrived by email. Borgo Molino Prosecco*were sponsoring the VIP tent at the foodies festival Tatton Park and wanted to invite me along as their guest. I’ve been to the foodies festival several times and always enjoyed it so I gladly accepted.

The Foodies festival first started back in 2006 in founder Sue Hitchen’s home city, Edinburgh. The festival now tours every summer featuring delicious foods and drinks. There’s also live music, cooking and baking demonstrations from top chefs and lots more.

On Sunday I set off nice and early accompanied by my cousin Lisa. We wanted to arrive early as the festival does get very busy from lunchtime onwards.  Once we arrived we headed straight for the VIP tent to collect our wristbands and indulge in our welcome glass of prosecco. It did feel a little odd drinking fizz at such an early hour, I didn’t let it stop me though! In the VIP tent, there were also complimentary juices, tea, coffee and snacks.

After finishing our prosecco we booked a seat for one of the chef’s sessions and started looking around. There was a good range of food and drink exhibitors and the street food stalls were amazing. We spent the morning trying some delicious samples and tasters. It was also lovely to chat with the exhibitors who were all very passionate about their brands. I did have to pace myself with the boozy samples, I don’t drink very often so could quite easily have gotten tipsy.

Here are some of my favourite exhibitors from the day.

Briscoe’s Finest Jellies Not only did these jellies taste amazing, Jon the owner’s passion for his product shone through. I bought a jar of the Ever So Mint but will definitely be buying some of the other varieties online. I was so busy chatting with Jon that I totally forgot to take a photo of his stall.

Snowdonia Cheese Company This cheese company is a firm favourite in our house. Chris loves the Black Bomber so I was on strict instructions to bring some home. I bought 3 truckles as they were on offer.

Visit Scotland I know this is an unusual favourite thing to add but the lady on the stand was just so lovely. I have never been to Scotland, shocking I know. It’s on my must-visit list and talking to her has made me want to go even more. We met Archie in the Highland cow van and even got a free visit Scotland wooden spoon.

Mr Hugh makes delicious oils. I tried the lemon oil and the white truffle oil both were delicious. The lady on the stall had made some lemon cake using just the lemon oil instead of butter and it tasted divine.

Bonne Maman I was quite surprised to learn that they don’t just make preserves. There was a lovely little stand where we could sample one of their delicious desserts. I tried the chocolate mousse which tasted amazing. I may have also indulged in a second pot from the VIP tent too.

Riverford Organic I have to give these guys a special mention as they gave us a free organic flat peach which tasted amazing. The boxes of organic fruit and veg looked so fresh and delicious.

After looking around, sampling and buying some goodies it was time for lunch. Deciding what to eat was not easy, there were so many delicious-smelling street food stalls to choose from. I went with one of my favourite comfort foods mac’n’cheese topped with crispy fried onions. My cousin chose a delicious duck pancake which we watched being made. That’s what I love about street food, you can see and smell it being cooked and it all taste’s so fresh.

We returned to the VIP tent to sit and eat our lunch. We were entertained with live music which was just brilliant.

With our bellies full we headed to the cake and desserts theatre for our session. Unfortunately, the lady from Sugar Junction hadn’t arrived so Charlotte White from Restoration Cake stood in for her. She showed the audience how to make strawberry shortbread which looked easy enough for even me to bake. I would definitely like to attend more of the food and drink sessions next time.

After the theatre session, we had one final look around and bought some more goodies. By this time the festival was super busy and the sun was starting to burn so decided to head home. We did collect a goody bag on the way out which in honesty was the only disappointment of the day. It contained a corn cob, some microwave cauliflower rice and a bag of crisps which isn’t as impressive as goody bags go.

We arrived home with full bellies and bags full of delicious purchases. All in all, we had a great day and would definitely recommend visiting whether you are a foodie or not. There really is something for everyone.
