This summer has been a real scorcher, and while the sunshine’s been perfect for barbecues and beach days, it’s also brought out a lot of unwanted visitors. Horseflies, gnats, bees, wasps… all the usual stinging suspects have been loving the heatwave.
We’ve all had our fair share of bites and stings already. It’s hard to avoid completely, but there are definitely ways to ease the discomfort. I was recently sent a few products to help our family deal with those pesky summer stings, and they’ve already come in handy for taking the sting out of summer.
Insect bites and stings are incredibly common during the warmer months, especially when spending time outdoors. Mosquitoes are attracted to body heat, sweat, and even the carbon dioxide we breathe out, which makes summer gatherings a prime time for bites. While most bites are harmless, they can cause itching, swelling, and irritation, especially in young children or anyone with sensitive skin. In some cases, scratching can lead to infection. That’s why it’s so helpful to have reliable, skin-friendly products on hand to prevent bites and quickly soothe any that slip through the net.
Vie Spray-On Anti-Mosquito & Insect Repellent
Vie Anti-Mosquito Spray is safe for the whole family, including babies and young children. It’s made with an all-natural, DEET-free formula that’s also paraben-free and dermatologically tested, ideal if you or your little ones have sensitive skin.
One thing I really appreciated was how easy it was to apply. The spray format is a lifesaver when you’re dealing with wriggling kids! It also has a surprisingly pleasant scent—much nicer than some of the stronger-smelling repellents we’ve tried before.
The formula absorbs quickly and leaves skin feeling fresh, not sticky or greasy. We used it before a trip to the park, and for once, we all came home bite-free. Anything that makes me less appealing to insects is a win in my book.
The bottle’s a handy size for popping in a day bag, whether you’re heading to the park or the beach. It’s also travel-friendly, so I’ll definitely be packing it for our holiday to Majorca next year to help keep the mozzies at bay.
Vie After Bite Roll-On
Vie After Bite offers gentle, soothing relief from insect bites, using natural ingredients like Aloe, Chamomile, Calendula, and Mallow. It’s designed with sensitive skin in mind, making it a safe option for the whole family, even little ones.
I really liked how compact and convenient the roll-on is. It’s small enough to pop in your bag or even a pocket, which makes it ideal for days out or holidays. The applicator is cleverly designed to dispense just the right amount each time, and the formula absorbs quickly without leaving any greasy residue.
The kids even commented on how nice it smelled; it has a soft, powdery scent that reminded me of baby powder. I also love that it’s made from all-natural ingredients. I’m always mindful of what I put on their skin, so this is definitely a product I feel good about using.
Zap It! Mosquito Bite Relief
Zap It! is a pocket-sized bite relief device for mosquito and other insect bites. It’s battery-free, contains no toxic chemicals and is clinically proven. The device works by delivering a safe electrical discharge which inhibits the release of histamine. Zap It! works to reduce the itching associated with insect bites.
I’m already a big fan of Zap-It!, it’s a staple in my holiday essentials kit. I’ve been using it for years, and it’s always helped to relieve the itch after a few nasty mosquito bites on holiday. I love the size of it and that it comes with a metal ring so I can attach it to my keys or purse.
I recently learned that it can be used on nettle stings, too. No doubt I will get to test that out soon!
