Word Of The Week – Celebrate

This week has been a good one on the whole with lots to celebrate. There have been home comings, a birthday and praise from parents evening to celebrate. I love weeks like these where there are lots of positives and negatives that are thrown in the mix seem a little less important.

The week started with Chris setting off to Scotland for two days worth of training for work. He doesn’t have to do this often thankfully as we all missed each other very much. I think being able to video call to say good morning and good night helps so much, thank goodness for technology. We celebrated his homecoming on Tuesday night with lots of cuddles and kisses. The kids were delighted because not only was daddy home, they got to stay up late to see him too.

Our next cause to celebrate was Chris’s birthday on Thursday, he turned 39. Sadly he had to work on his birthday so the kids gave him his presents the night before. Once he came home we had burgers and sausages on the barbecue, at his request. Can you believe we are still using the barbecue in October, it’s madness ! Instead of a birthday cake I bought him a New York cheesecake as that’s his favourite, it was delicious. Next year he joins me in the forties so I best get planning how we will celebrate that.

On Thursday after school I went to meet Jake’s teacher for parents evening. Our school hold two every year and this one was to hear about how the kids are settling in. She had nothing but praise for Jake, he’s happy, engaged in learning and lots of fun to be around. After a few wobbles in nursery last year I was really worried how he would settle into full-time school. He’s absolutely amazed me with how well he’s doing, he’s so happy and it’s lovely to see.

You might enjoy my previous word of the week post, Cake.

  6. What a lovely week you had!

Happy birthday to your husband and the parent evening news sounds nice. As a parent, we are in the dark as to what’s really going on in school, isn’t it. So it’s nice to know that Jake is settling well!
