Five Frugal Things I’ve Done This Week {1.10.21}

Every Friday I share five frugal things that I’ve done to save or make money. I believe that a frugal lifestyle is an individual thing and there is no right or wrong way of going about it. From the smallest of savings to the greatest it all adds up and contributes to us living the life that we want for less.

Five Frugal Things

  1. The temperature has plummeted here in the last week but I’m still holding out before I switch the heating on. I’ve pulled all the warm fluffy clothes and bedding out of storage and made sure the living room is stocked with blankets and fleeces.

With prices for gas rapidly rising it’s more important than ever this winter to adopt some money-saving strategies. I will certainly be implementing all of the tips I wrote about in my previous article about keeping warm at home.

2. No spend September went a bit awry towards the end of the month but I’m still counting it as a success. We had absolutely no takeaways during the challenge and we made full use of everything we already had at home. I’ve actually enjoyed cooking from scratch again and trying new things.

3. I won a couple of nice prizes last week including a case of Flipz Pretzels and a Fortnum & Mason hamper which hasn’t arrived yet but I’m very much looking forward to it.  Entering competitions is a great frugal hobby, lots of the giveaways I enter are totally free and the purchase necessary ones are often something I would have bought anyway.

4. I quickly popped into my favourite charity shop and picked up some long-sleeved tops for my son. They all had characters on them which my son was delighted about too.

5. Some of our services are up for renewal soon so I have been busy researching and comparing to save as much money as I can. I keep a list of dates when renewals are due so nothing gets missed.
