Five Frugal Things I’ve Done This Week {17.9.21}

Every Friday I share five frugal things that I’ve done to save or make money. I believe that a frugal lifestyle is an individual thing and there is no right or wrong way of going about it. From the smallest of savings to the greatest it all adds up and contributes to us living the life that we want for less.

Five Frugal Things

  1. The children’s school held a uniform swap this week where you could take up to five pieces of uniform that had been donated. I picked up a couple of spare school jumpers for my son as he often gets them dirty after a day on the playground.

There was also a table full of books for free, my son chose two chapter books which look really good.

2. I picked up a few more free food and drink items from the Checkout Smart app this week. I got a nice packet of biscuits to add to a Christmas hamper I’m building and some other snacks for the children’s lunchboxes. My lovely friend won a years supply of pizza which she very kindly shares with us each month. The freezer is stocked up and our Saturday night treat meals will be free pizza.

3. I popped into my favourite charity shop and picked up some almost new clothing for myself and my daughter and of course some books. The total cost was £5 which is well within this month’s second-hand shopping budget of £10.

4. I claimed some more vouchers from the survey websites I use and bought some more Christmas presents to store away. I’ve kept myself busy filling every spare moment I have taking part in surveys as I want to cover as many gifts as I can for free.

5. This week has been very kind with competition wins, I won £200 cash, a proof copy of a new fantasy book and some plant plugs for the garden. Entering competitions is a fantastic hobby and often brings treats that I couldn’t otherwise afford.
