Five Frugal Things I’ve Done This Week {12.11.21}

Every Friday I share five frugal things that I’ve done to save or make money. I believe that a frugal lifestyle is an individual thing and there is no right or wrong way of going about it. From the smallest of savings to the greatest it all adds up and contributes to us living the life that we want for less.

Five Frugal Things

  1. I’m experimenting with shopping for groceries every few days instead of weekly. My thinking is that it will lead to less waste and I will also be able to pick up some reduced bargains too. The last few weeks I have had to throw away some vegetables as they are just not lasting until we need to use them in a meal. My plan is to make a meal list for 3-4 days and shop according to that especially when it comes to fresh ingredients.

2. I have been making the most of the retailer war prices for seasonal goods and have picked up some quite good discounts. With the cost of everyday essentials rising quite sharply I want to make sure I’m getting some good bargains this Christmas saving as much money as possible.

3. There are a few jobs around the house that need some attention so I’ve been watching YouTube videos and googling DIY solutions. As much as I would love someone else to do it for me I’m determined to at least have a go before spending any money.

4. We enjoyed bonfire night at home with hot dogs, pizza and some spectacular fireworks in the sky thanks to our neighbours. Who says you have to spend lots of money to enjoy the celebrations.

5. I quickly popped into my favourite charity shop and although there wasn’t much on offer I did pick up some things for my son. I found a really good quality zip-up hoodie and a brand new t-shirt, I paid £2.50 for both. Picking up the odd item of clothing on each visit really does help to save us money in the long term.
