Five Frugal Things I’ve Done This Week {15.7.22}

Every Friday I share five frugal things that I’ve done to save or make money. I believe that a frugal lifestyle is an individual thing and there is no right or wrong way of going about it. From the smallest of savings to the greatest it all adds up and contributes to us living the life that we want for less.

Five Frugal Things

1 ) As market research has been slow this month I decided to take a look at some user-testing websites instead. I signed up with two websites, completed their courses and have already completed a few paid tasks with them. I have always been too nervous to try these out as a source of income but watching some YouTube videos about what’s expected was really helpful.

2) My lucky streak of winning prizes continues with some lovely things arriving this week. After being reluctant for a long time I set myself a challenge to start entering competitions on Instagram and it certainly paid off.

I won an amazing bundle of prizes that included a Weber BBQ, a Nutribullet, a £150 Tesco gift card, garden games, a paddling pool, bags of ice and a bottle of rum.

I also won a £50 Amazon voucher, some sandals, breakfast for four at a local pub and a bottle of gin. Entering competitions is the best frugal hobby ever.

3) Our broadband deal was due for renewal and like everything else lately, the cost had increased. A quick phone call and we have a lower price than we originally had. I never let anything automatically renew and have no problem changing suppliers if they can’t give me the best value.

4) I took full advantage of the recent heatwave and have been line drying all week. This will definitely help combat the rising electricity costs a little.

5) I took the kids to Smyths Toy Store on Saturday to pick up a free pack of Lego each. Smyths often hold events like this so it’s worth following them on social media to find out about them.
