I’ve always felt awkward when it comes to choosing clothes for myself. I’ve never been quite sure what my style is and I’m certainly no fashionista. I have an idea of what I think I like and I usually go with what’s safe and comfortable. Lately I’ve been trying to push myself out of my comfort zone in all areas of my life including what I wear. Recently JD Williams got in touch to ask if I would like to work with them on a blog post. I saw it as a great opportunity to try something different so I went for it.
My wardrobe is definitely lacking in the dress department so I decided to choose one. I also chose two pairs of shoes to go with it. I wanted something casual but smart enough that I could wear it on special occasions or a night out.
I chose a Navy Stripe Jersey Maxi T-Shirt Dress which I thought was very daring of me being only 5’2″. I needn’t have worried, it was the absolute perfect length for me. I was really impressed with the range of maxi dresses available on the website. It was definitely hard to choose just one.
The dress I chose is made from a super soft jersey material, the fit was really comfortable. As a larger lady I appreciate the stretchy fabric. The dress didn’t feel restrictive at all and it hugged my figure in all the right places.
I chose some beautiful Heavenly Soles Toe Post sandals to give the dress a smarter look. The sandals are so comfortable to wear and come with a wider fitting which is just perfect. I love the way these look with the dress and they will definitely go with lots of other outfits too.
I also chose a pair of TOMS for a more casual look. These go really well with the style of the t-shirt dress. I chose the navy blue colour which will pair well with trousers too.
I’m really impressed with the quality of the items I chose. I was also impressed to find a good range of prices on the website, there’s definitely something to suit all budgets.
Although the dress is perfect by itself for summer I thought I could pair it with a light denim jacket for Autumn/Winter. I’m really pleased with my choices. It’s definitely given me the confidence to buy more dresses and experiment a little with my style.
I’ve learnt a lot in my 30’s, the most important thing being that size, shape and weight do not define you. Confidence is the best gift you can give yourself.
