January is over and a new month has begun. The month felt very long and arduous but we made it through. I’m so happy that I remembered to take a photo every single day. Some days especially on weeks like the one I just had it can feel like there’s nothing to take a photo of but somehow I always manage it.

Monday morning started off well, I had some cranberry and orange curd on toast, a leftover jar from Christmas. By the early afternoon, I had become very unwell with an ulcerative colitis flare-up. The rest of the day was spent in pain and trying to rest as much as possible. I’m glad I thought to snap a photo in the morning otherwise I would have had to take one of me in my sick bed and that’s a sight nobody wants to see including me.

I spent nearly all of Tuesday in bed sleeping, resting and recovering. When I ventured downstairs in the evening I snapped this photo of Jake making a start on his SATS revision for maths. Math is his favourite subject just ahead of science so he was more than happy to do his homework this week.

Another day of rest for me although I did manage a very slow walk around the block with Indie. Once home I got comfy on the couch, put a winter spice wax melt in my wax burner and settled down with my laptop and some TV shows I wanted to catch up on.

Thursday was spent pottering around the house and ticking some of the smaller jobs off my never-ending to-do list. I finally brought all of my second-hand vintage Ladybird books downstairs to put on my new bookshelf. I’m very slowly collecting these as I come across them in the charity shops. The oldest one I won is from 1964 but I love finding the ones I had as a child in the 1980’s. I do have a few modern ones too as I like the humour in the ‘How it Works’ collection.

This should have been a photo of the delicious beef casserole that I made for tea but I totally forgot to take a picture before we all wolfed it down. My eldest daughter, her fiance and my grandson came for tea and it was so nice to have them here. They moved about an hour away from us last year and it still feels strange not having them just around the corner.
This poem from today is actually one of my favourites and one I used to sing to my older two when they were small. It was the perfect way to end a whole month of reading daily and nightly poems.
32/365 February 1st
Saturday morning started with a chilly but beautifully bright dog walk with Jake and Indie. It might only be February 1st but there was a hint of spring in the air. After our walk, it was time for the kids to get haircuts. The rest of the day was relaxed, the kids went for a bike ride together and I watched a movie.
33/365 February 2nd
This morning I was determined to find some snowdrops to take photos of and I succeeded. We drove to a local park and took Indie for a nice but chilly walk, it was busy with football clubs, dog walkers and joggers.
Along with the snowdrops, there were other signs of spring around the park. They have some magnificent trees there and they are starting to get little buds and catkins on them.
cranberry and orange curd sounds delicious and I love your fox – is it an oil burner?
I have snowdrops in our garden so spring is definitely on its way
It is an oil burner, it’s my favourite one.
That cranberry and orange curd sounds so good. So sorry you haven’t been feeling great.
That wax burner is so cute and the Ladybird books are fantastic finds. x
Sorry to hear you had a flare-up, they are the worst. Sending big hugs.
I was saying just the other day that it felt like we had a little peek at spring. I was more motivated because the sun came out!
I love your wax burner, it’s so sweet! I have a vanilla creme brulee candle burning and it smells amazing. Have a lovely week. x
I love snowdrops, but haven’t seen any yet. Hopefully, soon they will appear in our garden, always such a joy to see them.
Sorry to hear you were poorly. The curd sounds tasty, and a more unusual combination of flavours.
The Ladybirds’ book collection is lovely. The oild burner is so cute.
I completed a Project 365 years ago. It was photos of my residents and some of the activities we enjoyed. I enjoyed doing the project, but also it kept my Residents engaged. I also had a Facebook page where the families of my Resident in the Assisted Living could view and keep on top of how their family member was doing, and keeping busy. All in all a nice project for us all. Visiting from #MMBC. Have a great week ahead.
That curd sounds interesting. Hopefully you’re over the flare up now. Love the snowdrops – I’ve not really seen many yet, but I’ve got a day off on Friday and planning to head somewhere to find some.
I found my first snow drops this week also. Love that your son wants to his homework, long may it continue. hope you’re feeling better now. I’ve still got quite a few books from my childhood, I’m keeping an eye out in charity shops for a few missing ones to complete sets and I do re read them from time to time.
Sorry to hear that you were unwell. I love the poem, is so funny.
I think it’s great that you managed to find so many books at the charity shop. Well done.
Sorry to hear about your flare-up and hope you are feeling better this week. Cranberry and orange curd sounds delicious. Good luck to Jake with his SATs revision. I love your collection of Ladybird books. I used to love them as a child and it must be finding ones that you remember from your childhood. I love that poem about peas too. Lovely to find some snowdrops. I haven’t spotted any yet. #project365
Your wax burner is so adorable! I have a never-ending to-do list at the moment and it’s really getting me down. I hope you overcome yours.
